Should be on the Rockets… Damn it!

Would have been nice, but in some ways it’s better that he’s on the Knicks. Knicks and Lakers probably get the most media attention in the league, so all of Grimes’ success there is getting blasted around the country and recruits will be noticing.

I’d settle for just the best players in Houston staying home…

KNICKS ARE HIGH ON GRIMES

Prior to Thursday’s deal, the Knicks and Hawks had discussed a trade that included Reddish for Grimes and a 2022 first-round pick, per sources familiar with Reddish’s situation.

Atlanta wanted Grimes, the Knicks’ 2022 first-round pick. Some Knicks decision-makers were opposed to dealing Grimes. I don’t know how far those talks advanced, but the Knicks were ultimately opposed to including Grimes in the deal. Grimes has shown in his rookie season that he’s a capable shooter and defender.

Based on the events of the last few days, it’s clear that Grimes has fans in high places within the Knicks organization.

" To his credit, rookie Quentin Grimes took the tough assignment in the fourth quarter and tried his best, but Bridges kept hitting circus shots anyway. Sometimes it’s just your day."

grimes v Hornets.

The things he was praising Grimes for is straight CKS UH culture. Quentin owes his career to CKS.

" How have you seen Quentin Grimes develop since the start of the season?
Grimes’ defense has hit another level since autumn. He understands the speed of the pro game in a way he didn’t when he first started…(more in article) If you want a positive Knicks storyline, Grimes’ development certainly qualifies."

ā€œThe bench got the Knicks back into the game behind the play of Quentin Grimes (12 points) and Obi Toppin (13 points). Grimes, who was superb, was allow to finish the game out,ā€

"Here is what Thibodeau had to say about Grimes after the Knicks’ loss in Cleveland:

ā€œFor a young guy to come in the league, he’s not perfect but he plays hard on every possession. And there’s a physicality to him, there’s a toughness to him. Those things are important, a competitiveness. So there’s a multiple effort (habit), that’s ingrained in him. He takes the right shots. That’s important. That’s a big part of winning. So we need toughness, we need toughness.ā€

Grimes, you’ll remember, was coveted by Atlanta in the Reddish trade. New York ultimately decided that Grimes was untouchable in that deal.

So it seems like you can pencil Grimes into the rotation moving forward.

He’s earned the role. He plays with energy, provides capable point-of-attack defense and can knock shots down."

if you go on social media right now there are tons of fans calling for grimes to start… they put him in the game down by a ton, and he lead them back to almost winning (lost by 2)…he had a +21 +/- , went 4/6 from 3 and put the clamps on darius garland when he was in

He clamped Garland up big time

Reading through this thread on the Knicks subreddit made me smile. Good for Grimes.

Maybe Coach Tibedeau will read reddit.

Phucking Rockets blew it again like they did with Rashard Lewis. I’ll never forgive the Rockets for not drafting Lewis.

It’s like Brooks, all the performances on the floor make it obvious to apparently everyone except the coach and GM that he should be playing much more If not starting. As if he hasn’t earned it already.

It’s called the Keenum syndrome. Geez.

You don’t draft a guy just because he is local. They made a decision to go in another direction just like a lot of other teams did. Grimes looks to be on his way to a very good NBA career and I am happy for him and program.
Christopher is a little earlier in his development and has also shown some promise.

You can tell a lot about players in the tourney… That’s why I wanted Mobley and Grimes… But, oh well…

Hopefully, Jalen Green proves me wrong…

By the same token, you don’t NOT draft a guy because he’s local either.
