Ramon Walker Jr

Ever since Ramon had the flu he has been out of the rotation. I thought it was because TA and Sharp were ahead of him but he hasn’t been dressing out lately. I have been assuming he’ll be gone after this season. It is odd that he is not even dressing. What do you think is going on with Ramon?

He gone

We should know by Wednesday

We play home vs South Florida. Should be a comfortable win. Where our bench players get minutes in the 2nd half (where Ramon should play).

If Ramon doesn’t go in that game, then…

Then he is redshirting? What will we know?

Thats my guess. If hes not available Wednesday, then maybe hes trying for a medical redshirt. Hes played 10 games this season, You cant play more than 30% of a teams season, to apply for a MR.

Coach has been asked about a few times & he’s typically pretty honest if someone is sick or injured.
CKS said he expects him at practice this week.

Last game he played was at Tulsa on 12/28. Almost going on 2 weeks.

Im hoping the best for the kid.

There will be times where we need him. I definitely don’t want him RS’ing. This is our shot.

He really hasn’t looked the same this year. He almost seems a step slow on defense. Whether its because of physical ailments or something else, something has looked “off.”

Uhhh.

He’s always been a really bad on ball defender. Especially out on the perimeter.

But, man. The way he hustles. And does the dirty things to win. I love this kid. And I truly wish him the best in whatever he pursues next.

So you think he looks the same this year?

Maybe it’s a case of the rotations around him being a little different or something. He played crucial minutes last year and helped us win games - he hasn’t looked capable of doing that this year.

He was such a key part of last year’s team (one of my favorite UH basketball teams ever).

I hope Ramon realizes he can still be a key part of this team with his experience and his hustle. He just needs to work through his injury and improve his mental confidence.

Let’s not speculate and put things that are incorrect. CKS will figure this out.

Credit to UH reporters, they’ve asked Coach about his status.

^^this is all we know for now. Expected to be at practice Monday

I think he’s looked exactly the same this year as he did last year. He just looks worse now because we can see the stark difference with our other bench guards who are bringing more to the table. Ramon plays with a lot of toughness and grit, and I love how willing he is to put his body on the line, but he’s a bad defender and I think the surgery at the beginning of his freshman year broke his jumpshot. We need our bench to bring more to the table than just effort plays, and right now he’s a liability on both sides of the ball.

Ramon Walker’s problem may be the same problem Cedric Alley had, Sampson brought in better players the next year. It’s a good problem to have.

I wouldn’t say Ramon is a bad on ball defender. He isn’t Shead or Sasser. He is a great help defender. But, obviously Sharp and TA are better shooters

He was blown by many times to start the season… That’s when his minutes started trending down… When he became a liability on defense.

Whatever Ramon’s issue(s) are, he is still a significant contributor to this team and I am sure the coaching staff and players will show him support during this rough patch.

Ramón is a good player who impacts winning by sacrificing his body. He has thrown himself and jumped up and went over people trying to get the ball. He has single handedly won us a couple of games with momentum shifts. He deserves full support. He should also know if he stays and grinds he will eventually play and start. He has too much experience not to and he just needs to work on his shot and decision making. Heart he has in excess.
