We’re getting to a point where we can’t hang on to everyone from our pre-BigXII days. The level of talent that we’re getting means we’ll be playing more freshman and sophomores and less juniors and seniors. RW will be an unfortunate casualty, and I think TM should seriously consider declaring after this season as well. We gotta clear out older guys or guys who won’t crack the rotation. We’ll have Shead, Sharp, TA, Wilson, and Jefferson all fighting for guard minutes. Wilson especially will not be happy if he can’t get in the court next year since he transferred and sat out a year. I think by mid-next season, our lineup will be:
Shead
Sharp
TA
Francis
Roberts
That means Jefferson and Wilson will be fighting for minutes off the bench, along with Lath, McFarland, Jojo fighting for minutes in the paint. We’ll likely bring in a transfer that won’t need starting minutes.
You certainly can’t be serious about wanting to Tramon to declare? Sure, if he and CKS thinks that’s a viable option, but wanting him to “clear out” as if he was some kind of liability is, I’ll be nice, absurd
@LumberjackWeezy Mark is shooting 40% from 3pt. But hes only made 19 threes for the season. And we’re 17 games in. So he’s making about 1 three a game. Kyler Edwards made almost 98 threes last season as an example
And for Mark’s development, at times he still over dribbles. At the next level, he projects as either a 6ft 4" point guard, with great passing ability or a lights out 3pt shooter. Mark isn’t really great at either right now. Hes a good passer, and becoming a better 3pt shooter. But i think he still needs another year to work on those skills
Right now im 70-30 Mark comes back next season
Jefferson definitely seems like a redshirt candidate next year
Having Tramon Mark leave to clear out room is insane to me. In the Big 12 we still need veteran players and leadership. There may be more talented guys but Tramon has been with the program and bring it on defense.
His shot has been looking better and he has the ability to be an elite passer. With Sasser gone next year he could take on a bigger scoring role as well.
tramon right now isnt a draft prospect (likely not even on the radar)… but his play the last 4 games have been nba level…
but we still have like 20-ish games to go including the tourney… if tramon keeps this level of play he will get on draft radars. his biggest issue is his shot, but his shot has looked good enough in the last 4 games, he is getting comfortable enough to shoot 3s off the dribble
we start getting these on the regular to finish the year and his stock will rise
its probably premature to starting talking about him going pro, but the possibility is there is he continues to get better like he has
Unless he can save a year with a medical redshirt… But that’s tough to deal with… Going from providing crucial minutes on an elite 8 team to just before Elvin in the rotation on the #1 team in the country the very next season…
He’s a tough, smart young man… I think he’ll succeed no matter if it’s here or elsewhere.
I’m with Pesik that this line up only has 3 3 point shooting threats, so we’ll see. Unlike this year where Walker can step out and you have to respect his perimeter game.
No, that’s not my perspective. He’s definitely starting if he’s on the team. But I think we’re starting to recruit kids with a lot higher floor and ceiling, so I wouldn’t mind him leaving given the talent starting to come in. That’s not to diminish his talent and contributions, but we’re at a point where we can get some incoming freshmen that will be better than 3rd/4th year guys already on our team.
I think you are underselling mark… or overestimating freshman
I think mark next year will be better than any freshman guard… the top guard next year is Wagner, if you asked me Wagner as a fresh or mark in his 4th year… I’m taking mark
