Re: UH Playing UT Again

OU and UT would not get to decide but the existing big 12 members would. 14 teams and 9 conference games means the new members won’t get to play OU or UT

No they do not. What makes you so sure they do? You and i have no clues what the future BIG12 schedule will be like and if even these two schools will be a part of it. Do you work for the BIG12 or are you a BIG12 A.D. in disguised posting as moncoog?
The one thing we know about moncoog is that he does not want to answer if U of H should get a share of the PUF.

I’d play UT wherever we get the biggest payout. If it’s NRG, so be it.

If we’re the better team (I believe we are), let’s whip them and get paid.

OU found out that’s how we roll.

On campus ONLY, that’s how we roll now.

I seriously doubt that we’ll ever see UT-Austin play a game at TDECU on the UH campus - and you can add other regional powers such as ATM, LSU, Arkansas, OU, etc. to that strong doubt.

The reality is that at ~40k seats, TDECU stadium at UH is closer in size to the Cy-Fair & Katy HS FB stadiums than it is to the FB stadiums at UT-Austin & ATM & LSU.

At 40k it is closer to Baylor (45) and TT (55).

From being there for our game a few years ago, I recall that Texas Tech’s stadium seats 60,000+.

Give us time, stadiums can be expanded. OU just finished their expansion, along with UT and TT and TCU. (still ongoing)

Plus, we have plans to expand to 60k.

Seating capacity should NOT be a reason to move OUR home games.

Homefield advantage is way too important.

We ONLY play at NRG if it is an invitational neutral site game.

We are P5 NOW…no need to whore ourselves for increased revenue…No!

When we played Louisville in 2016 the announced SRO attendance was 44,000.

That will easily accomodate any home crowd going forward. UT and OU are not in our future.

The stadium is designed to expand by 10,000 seats.

Let’s see if ticket demand justifies that. Today we have no proof that those seats are needed.

A jam-packed TDECU will provide a tremendous home field advantage.

Does USC play on a neutral site when they play Washington State? They do not.
Does Vanderbilt play their home game on neutral sites? They do not.

OU got more $$ out of that game plus a home game against us a few years later.

It is designed to top out at 60k but that is too much. I’d say 50k the next time then add 5k more later but I like 50k.

As far as ut and OU:
-they will be in the big12 for 2 yrs then leave after 2025.No way they pay 70 to 90 mil to leave early.
-the big 12 will make the schedule and they can complain all they want but the big 12 will decide
-Ut and OU will play at tdecu stadium unless Pez gives in to wanting more tickets sold which will be on him.

That’s my take on this

I’m still confident that we won’t play OU or UT at all. The remaining members of big 12 make up a majority and they are going to want the gate receipts that come with playing against OU and UT

My guess is that UH will play neither in 2023-2024 Football seasons.

With 9 conference games and 13 possible opponents it becomes difficult to schedule either one.

We already play BYU, Cincy, and UCF. Add Baylor, Tech, TCU, Okie State and you have 7 opponents. Who are the other 2?

We already have Kansas on the schedule. That is #8.

One left. Because of Holgersen I predict it will be WVU.

No UT, OU, K State, or Iowa St.

I don’t care if we play or don’t play UT-Austin. Doesn’t move me one way or the other. They exist but that is about it. Maybe it should be exciting but it isn’t to me. They’ve been a turd to UH forever and I’ve always been of the mindset to pay no mind to people/organizations like that.

The stadium is actually designed to expand to 60K, but could be done in increments.

As long at UT sucks on it’s way out of the Big12 (which it will) and then continues to suck in the SEC (which it will) and we end each season ranked above them, that’s all that matters to me.

This will also effect their recruiting as the SEC teams will grab more and we will benefit by keeping better players home.

Love it, and thanks UT!

I think maybe Tech and Baylor and Tcu fans might want to see the horns get whipped by the coogs. We might be able to swing those votes.
