There’s no “budget blunder” with the Medical School.

With the amount Mattress Mac has been losing lately on sports betting, he may not be able to afford it…

One of the T&F members actually called out UH asking for renovated track facilities after the announcement of the Ops building.

As much as I predicted (and felt myself), there is some animosity from the student body over the Ops building. Like, we are all supportive of the idea and team and how it will help UH in the end on the athletics and perception side, but are disgruntled because there are a bunch of known issues in the UH Academic side this year that have caused issues.

Some being graduation. Some departments don’t have advisors.

Academics has been taken care of over the past 15 years and still has a number of improvements to be started soon or entering the planning stages. It is quite a different landscape overhauling an entire campus. We, lead by RK, have done a tremendous job of reshaping our campus over nearly the last 20 years. There should be no animosity considering the ops building is coming from private partners who have the right to do what they want with their monies. In the long run, these additions will also lessen the burden of the University to cover the cost and debt of the athletics.

You should take that up with the administration and do a academic fundraising effort like what the athletic department is doing to get new facilities.

Carl is worth 20 mil, the track team needs to talk to him

They renovated the outdoor track about 3 years ago and the AAC will get renovated after football moves out. That will be the next major project of the athletic department after the ops building opens.

Our administration knows the Olympic sports facilities need to be upgraded to Big12 standards but right now it’s all about football and basketball since they are the ones paying the bills.

We didn’t get in the Big12 because we have an awesome track team which we very much do, we got in because of football.

People on the academic side need to realize that athletics is very important and we’re p5 in the big leagues now which matters. It’s the front porch of the school.

Ask A&M or lsu to drop athletics or go to Cusa and they will tell you the same.

A&M , USC , Notre Dame wouldn’t be the big names without athletics. If we all dropped athletics then it really wouldn’t matter where you went to school bc we’d all be equal then they’d only look at high academic schools like Tulane and Stanford etc as the top ones.

Ask why Alabama is even on the radar of go to schools? It’s bc of athletics.

UH is on the radar bc of its a great school with high profile athletics which gets our name out there and all the marketing in the world won’t achieve as much as being big time in athletics.

Playing schools where your co-workers and varied associates attended is what college athletics is all about.

Also 4 years ago. T&F has been taken care of just fine.

The new indoor banked track, which is valued at $2 million, was donated by Doug Blough and Net Lease Capital, while Net Least Capital Chief Financial Officer Thor Jacobs and Steve McBride provided tremendous help during the process

When the new football OPS building is complete, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the old football locker room that occupies a large part of the second floor in the Athletic Alumni Center. That will probably require complete redesign.

It’s a percentage of scholarships

—Title nine isn’t about the number of sports it’s about the amount of scholarships
— Simone Biles has said she would coach a UH gymnastics team
— some folks need to realize without strong football and basketball there isn’t enough income to help the oly sports. Unless the students want to fund them . All of our sports facilities are being upgraded gradually, once football is out of the AAC then I’m guessing it will be upgraded and repurposed to offer better facilities for several other sports When giving to athletics it give you the option to designate a certain sport . Before complaining about who gets what, I’d look at those percentages and see where the donors want their money spent . Some coaches take it upon themselves to raise money. I believe whiting did this . Who funds the majority of the golf program ? I’m not certain but I bet former players help in these regards. So I want all our sports to be funded 100% by donations but until then some may need to get a grass roots movement going . Progress next stops and rust never sleeps . Loo at our facilcomapred to 15 years ago, 30 years ago or 5 years ago. I’m going to say all have had money spent on them . In a instant gratification society we don’t understand patience is a virtue

They have also talked about making indoor tennis courts for the tennis team. Thought they do it out in that green area between the basbeall field and tennis courts. Maybe they can turn the old lockeroom into the new weight training area and turn the old weight training room meant for the football team to a couple indoor practice courts for tennis.

Yep, thanks. Per the EADA report we are underwater on the womens side. 57% dollars in academic support goes to men and 43% to women. Or $ 5.1 million
to men and $ 3.8 million to women.
