They sell alcohol at their stadium?

This is the type of ground-level reporting that makes this board a venerable stop on the internet.

Having watched those kids jumping around for 4 quarters I find that amusing.

It’s better than puking in a lady’s purse, like one of my buddies did at Louisiana Tech in 1988.

U of U is pretty much IT in UTAH besides the Jazz. There is nobody else up here. The fans show up and show out.

But the atmosphere is what I’m talking about. Even if we have a full stadium, our fans are just there to casually watch the game.

Utah doesn’t sell booze or beer at its stadium. I didn’t see a single person puking in a garbage can or much ‘beer bad behavior’ at all.

That doesn’t mean they don’t drink in the parking lot before the game.

Of course they do. Its a college town.

UH has plenty of drunks!

Yeah, it’s a dry campus.

Fun fact, Ryan Smith got alcohol approved for the hockey game at rice Eccles

Utahns love their sports.

The Jazz, mammoth, byu football, Utah football, byu basketball, Utah state basketball, all sell out pretty much every event.

Two or three years ago Utah started making a conscious effort to welcome
Opposing fans to their stadium. It’s largely worked. I tip my cap to them

Salt Lake City is a college town?

Drinking is a hobby. Like knitting or quilting or building planters out of toilets. I’m proud our community is diversified in its interests.

Well-when I upgraded tickets to the lodge area with the firepits right after kickoff, I saw three or four adults doing it while walking over there. You probably were watching the first drive. Not having alcohol at the game probably causes overdoing it pre-gaming.

You know what’s something to be proud of? When UH started to play in the Dome, we got to buy beer. So it was just part of our culture at that point. When we moved back to campus, we continued that tradition, when all the other schools still banned alcohol on their campus stadiums. We were trend setters again. Remember when we opened UNTs new stadium? Their students were full of energy at the beginning of the game but come the second half they were out of steam, they couldn’t keep their buzz going, since they didn’t sell beer at their fancy new stadium. lol. Now just about every college stadium sells beer.

I remember a home softball game about 17 years ago or so, against Baylor, and we were selling beer at the softball stadium. Some fans were amazed that beer was sold at a softball game.

It’s the United States of America. Beer is as much a cultural thing as red meat or corn or bread. I guarantee you the administrators at alcohol-free schools are saucing like cavemen before games.

Coogs had been in the dome many years before beer was sold there. We had many creative ways to sneak it in, including but not limited to, binocular cases, boots, large hats, ziploc bags, diaper bags, extra underwear…

Packing extra underwear for a football game is truly planning for the worst (or best?).
