Run It Back - NIL Campaign ($1,000,000 Goal)

Solve for X. Do your own work. No cheating.

We got a guy worth $10B.

But, sure. Let’s kick this campaign off and make us pay their salary.

I don’t have season tickets for this coming year because I’m not a cougar club member for BYU anymore.

The money I gave to cougar club makes more sense in a collective than the school, and I lost my priority seating and won’t be able to get tickets. I’m not going to give thousands to both. Who knows, maybe I’ll enjoy having my fall days back and quit doing both.

That is a TOS violation here.

What happened to that Exxon money? Were they being sheisty and only gave us like $50k? :expressionless:

I understand your point. I’m an out of town cougar (OOTC.) Like you, I love my school. But, we have Cougar Pride, state funding, monies received from the Big XII and NCAA. Now we’re being asked to pay a premium for seats at sporting events and contributing to NIL fund collectives.

I hate for the government to get involved in anything because they’ll always find a way to screw things up once lobbyists get involved. But, we need to reign in NIL or will go back to the bad old days where the rich schools pillage and plunder the poorer schools. We are literally getting into bidding wars with other schools for athletes.

People complain about the NCAA. Don’t blame the NCAA, blame the schools that built it. The schools wanted a paper tiger and they got one.

Exxon had an NIL deal with Jamal, not UH.

I never thought I’d see the day when we’re asking for money to keep our student-athletes. Not good for college athletics.

I don’t know if any of y’all listen to the Acquired business podcast, but they did an episode on the NFL and how to build the league all the teams sacrificed a little to build what it is. Now they all reap the reward. NCAA teams seem to be doing the opposite.

Even if the schools start paying the wages we will never have a “fair” league due to the conference payouts.

It’s been going on forever, before it was to pay for facilities and coaches to get players. And of course all the under the table money too.

We need some whales who would put money into the NIL pot but thats a 2 way sword!!!

I honestly don’t know why even the whales would continue pouring money into NIL. I’m not sure the “marketing” write off is sufficient to justify continued cash injections, especially with no contracts (that I’m aware of) to hold athletes to the bargain. Why would you pay a kid 7 figures (like Ohio State did with Quinn Ewers) only for him to never play for your team?

wtf are we discussing here. Do you want to win a championship or not? Let’s go to Kentucky site and see if they are complaining about donor money. Contribute or become irrelevant. Simple equation
