Russian Three Star General CAPTURED in Ukraine

That could be dangerous. Remember what happened last time there was a power vacuum, ISIS took over, and they were way worse than Assad.

Saw a headline the rebels are linked to al-Qaeda. If true
uhg. Never seems to be any good developments there.

Edit: Headline I read was probably an over simplification.

You clearly have no idea what you are writing about. Political post are not allowed.

Forbes is a business journal.

This thread has had a lot of political posts in it, or at least borderline. Some by you. However I don’t think an argument over which is a better idea Drones or F35 or their cost is necessarily political, even if Elon is part of the discussion.

I know @rtcoog has been monitoring it as I’m not active on this thread. I will defer to him and the site owner on this as I’m inclined to close the thread. People seem to be enjoying it and are civil.

It would be a shame to close it. This thread has been going since the Russians invaded Ukraine back in 2022 and you are right it has been civil.

Does it mention DOG or not?
It does therefore it is a political argument. DOG and F35 with an opinion. We either accept politics or not? Enjoying or not it does not matter. you can’t have it both ways. Calling a spade a spade.

Please don’t start fights in threads. Feel free to pm if you’d like to continue it. Thanks.

I post on the thread and I like to read others opinions on the matter. Looks like the war in Ukraine is affecting Russian interests around the globe. Also, Israel’s war in Gaza and Hesbollah has stretched Iranian interests in Syria as well.

Here we are two years later. If Russia has proven anything its they can throw bodies into a war better than any other country in the world.

And why the F is the US helping destabilize Syria? Is there any far-flung adventure we don’t meddle in?

In recent past we intervened for the use of
chemical weapons there.

There is also the the saying the enemy of my enemy is my friend. But certainly not at all clear what comes after Assad will be any better.

Not many. But as the big dog on the planet
and with interests throughout the world, it seems like it goes with the role. That’s not to say all our adventures are always for truly virtuous reasons. But being an isolationist, when you have world wide interests financially and resource needs, it goes with the territory.

Answer: because, among other things, Assad is a known sponsor of terror and ally of Iran.

Pretty good reasons to hope for downfall, eh?

Has also been accused of using chemical weapons against his own people.

Not to mention their proximity to our ally, Israel.

I hope for a lot of things. Spending our precious resources on things that align us with jihadis is ridiculous

A high-ranking general in the Russian armed forces and his assistant have been killed in Moscow by Ukraine’s security service, a Ukrainian source has told the BBC.

Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, head of the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defence Forces (NBC), was outside a residential block early on Tuesday when a device hidden in a scooter was detonated remotely, Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) said.

A source in Ukraine’s SBU security service claimed Kirillov was “a legitimate target” and alleging he had carried out war crimes.

On Monday, the SBU charged Kirillov, 54, in absentia, saying on Telegram that he was “responsible for the mass use of banned chemical weapons”.
