That may be the LAST time that they gained independence, but Ukraine as an independent nation does NOT start there.
Ukraine has an existence hard won and INDEPENDENT from that of Russia beginning in 1921…that’s MORE THAN A CENTURY.
YOU need to stop twisting the truth by failing to acknowledge that.
It’s sad that some are so happy to allow Russia to reinvade Ukraine and destroy that independence and autonomy today…just as Russia (Soviet Union) did in 1940.

Why are you so willing to let Putin invade and takeover Ukrainian territory, apparently?
Why aren’t you demanding that Putin abandon it all, as he had no right under international law to either claim or occupy any territory within Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders?
Don’t try to justify Putin’s position…or those that have a bizarre fondness for him.

You know good and well that “you know who” (not allowed to use his name) has a fondness for Putin…that’s why he’s trying to force this deal on the Ukraine that would hand Putin a victory and cost Ukraine territory… and he/his followers are justifying it using the same rhetoric that you are using.

Or people will think that you have a similar fondness for not only you know who, but Putin as well.

There are a few posters here that echo the exact same Kremlin positions. This
is how effectively the Kremlin has been in persuasion; and they don’t even realize it from the sources they listen to.
This is Russia, who has opposed the US on numerous UN votes for decades, and has nuclear missiles that target the US. And these same posters now support Russias blatant aggression and invasion of a sovereign country.

So if Russia was born in Ukraine then doesn’t that mean all of Russia should be given to Ukraine. They are the OGs on that soil even though the language has changed. 90210, you should demand Russia give up and return it all to Ukraine. /s
In 1994, Ukraine agreed to transfer their nuclear weapons to Russia for dismantlement and became a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, in exchange for economic compensation and assurances from Russia, the United States and United Kingdom to respect the Ukrainian independence and sovereignty. I am sure Ukraine wishes it had never given up its weapons. No way Russia does what it has done over the years if they still had them. Ukraine believed we would be there for them and now we are turning our backs.

Unfortunately simply trying to explain how one Nation might see things is not a winning plan on this Board.
Said Nation does not have to be correct in their thinking. No one says Russia is correct. But Putin and other Leaders do think in certain ways.
Thus their actions reflect their thinking.
You can mail it in that Russia is not going to give up The Crimea and that NATO and The USA is not going to attack Crimea to run them off.
Thus the stalemate.

Same thing will happen if you post how China, NK, etc. feels about something although I’m not seeing the nuance explained when it comes from them.
