We have always done more with less… yet in today’s world it could be catching up to us.

This is what happens when we have no old money fans.

I think we are fine in the short term. We have a couple of biggies that will pay to get one or two players that we really need. Coach is playing the long game. He is trying to fatten the coffers while he is still coaching so that the pipeline is alive when Kellen takes over and having to prove himself.

We still need more donors though!

Another really deep tourney run would help fill the coffers. Seems like money folks like to jump on the wagon when excitement is highest.

For context this is his exact quote right before the we’re poor comments:

“we participate in NIL just like everyone else. We know what our kids market value is. Trust me they’re not starving here. They are getting exactly what the market is for them.”

While we’ve always had a problem of getting deep pocket individual donors, I’m not sure why we can’t get the big corporate donors/sponsors in n a city the size of Houston. It’s crazy how Dallas got behind SMU when they were winning a few years ago.

Jamal did get an Exxon NIL deal a couple years ago.

I think it either got taken out context or Coach is simply saying things out loud. I think it’s cringy either way.

Hmm - pay my bills or line pockets of one and done players who already get money in revenue sharing regardless plus cost of attendance and a full scholarship with unlimited meals

he’s definitely not talking to anyone who’s broke err I mean of limited means where that’s an actual either/or decision.

What happened to Mattress Mack? Is he still one of our huge donors? Seemed like a few years ago it was very public what he was giving and you couldn’t stop him from voicing his support and being around our great program and even taking bags of cash to bet on us in March. I feel like I don’t hear much about it anymore I was wondering if something happened
