Sampson says we are poor…

Or any of us on this board… lol

Maybe I’ll hit on the next crypto bull market…:rofl::rofl:

Us “little guys” just need to show up on time, wear RED and be LOUD!!!

We have the cheapest fans out of all the P4 schools unfortunately.

I bet we have the most first generation college grads, too…

Something to be proud of…

I think there’s a lot of truth to this. Right now, we get kids who come here to play for Kelvin because of his proven success at helping them get to the next level, even if the NIL deal isn’t quite what it would be elsewhere. And there’s probably some “on demand” NIL and program support that comes in when he really needs something. Kellen probably won’t start out with either of those advantages.

This comes the day after that Chron article once again saying we have such poor revenue and AD. Such odd timing especially when the light at the end of the half share tunnel is quickly approaching.

Did he actually do that? Even if he did, with his own money, it still doesn’t change the fact that our athletics department in comparison to others is poor.

That is exactly why Nunez was brought in, I believe. Group 1 auto was one, he just signed something related to the indoor track facility too. Not sure what other new ones were signed since he arrived.

No… it’s a joke…

And his salary is $5.5 million right in between Rick Barnes and Scott Drew…

And likely its direct deposit too. It did seem rather outlandish but like so outlandish who could make it up kind of thing.

The point is he has one of the highest salaries in college AND access to a private plane whenever he wants…

This program AIN’T POOR.

I was a bit surprised when he spent so much time on this topic. And now we have a “nothingburger” story from ESPN. This quote kills me… “According to a USA Today database, Houston was ranked 56th in Division I athletics with revenue of $78 million – or nearly one-third of rival Texas’ athletic budget – in 2024.”
Texas has the largest budget of ANY school, we are still ranked 56 out of 136 FBS schools and this does not include full Big TV share we now recieve starting in 25-26 cycle. Also… this has nothing to do with NIL which is outside the revenue view.

ESPN must have literally nothing going on to feature a story likes this…

I wasn’t so much the city of Dallas, SMU struggles like UH to get media attention and big corporate support… It was the many billionairs SMU can call on in a heart beat to step up.

Compared to other Division 1 schools though? Also, he was generally talking about the whole department.

Haha… I’m on lunch break…

The Kelvin Sampson I know wants kids that drive Honda Accords, not Mercedes. That’s what u of h always has been and he’s made a great run at a hard hat, blue collar school. This is cringe on the surface but coach has something in mind here. I’ll trust his street smarts, he said this for a reason.

saying this knowing that like 50-60 of these schools are the Marhsall’s, Middle Tennessee’s, Southern Miss’, New Mexico State’s, Akron’s and Tulsa’s of the college football world is a choice lol

Correct, there are 69 power schools if you count ND too. 56 is not at the bottom and we should move up once we factor in additional Big 12 revenue.

I once saw one of our basketball players drive a Mercedes and decided to not contribute lol
