Sampson says we are poor…

This is pro sports and needs pro sports fixes.

being in the bottom 20% but not the absolute bottom is what one calls splitting hairs…lol

How much do we have to pay to beat UCF by 5 last night? 24 was too much, we’re overpaying.

I get what he’s trying to accomplish with these remarks, but the content farms and rival fanbases love this stuff. Bad press.

When? In 1984?

A player driving a Mercedes is stopping you from donating?

Learn to adapt to NIL and stay relevant. If you don’t want to contribute anything because you saw a player drive a car nicer than your ford fiesta than don’t cry on here when we aren’t doing good as a program or miss landing a recruit!

This was in 2019. a few years before NIL.
I’m kidding on the donating part lol.

Don’t blame me, UH already cashed MY checks.

I don’t think his message was directed at the regular fans. His comment was specifically about NIL and that’s nothing but a measuring contest between big money donors, at the higher levels. It sounds to me like he’s working an angle, but on the surface I can’t see how this helps with recruiting.

Also, he seemed particularly grumpy at the conference. I wonder if something happened with a recruit.

$$$ isn’t everything. But to your point, even KSU couldn’t afford their main target, this guy, so they had to settle for Marcus Johnson. This guy coulda been a difference maker for them.

Probably uses the same trainer/agent as MJXL…

Yes… that is my new moniker for Johnson… MJXL…

I just don’t like him saying it publicly. I’m not sure how that helps future recruiting. I’m sure coaches could point to that in recruiting battles.

That’s not a good sign…seems that Nuñez is perhaps getting complacent or isn’t hitting the impactful fundraising marks CKS expects to see.

When’s the last time we heard a big news drop about Eddie securing a sponsorship with a meaningful, highly-visible company or brand?

He wouldn’t say it if he thought it would affect recruiting… imo.

CKS is in his KMA era; he don’t care how his remarks are taken.

Well CKS, I am going to say something that you and many others on this board don’t want to hear, but it’s the truth:

Win something! You win the championship, and money will roll in. Until that happens, you will continue to be poor. That is the reality.

Blaming athletes, alumni, the administration, society, NCAA, the courts, etc, are merely cop outs. You have no control over any of it; all you can control is what happens on the court or the field. So you handle your business and stop trying to guilt trip others into doing your job.

My wishful thinking is he’s trying to guilt specific donors to help out with NIL. Sampson saying this in public is grabbing headlines on a national level, and on a local level I think it will generate enough smoke to trigger a response. There’s an angle he’s working out and we just don’t know the whole story.

This is very much my particular opinion on the whole thing.

Win something? :joy:

WTF @EastCoastCoog ?

He’s won as much as Guy V……and he’s had to pull the program out of the trash….

He shouldn’t have to beg for money.

That’s really sad sportsmanship by OSU students. Pitiful trash talk

At the end of the day, CKS isn’t lying that we are near the bottom of the P4s in terms of revenue, NIL, donations, etc.
