Think this has to do with not getting in the Big 12 and not getting the boost in cash flow from that.
I think it has more to do with not enough donations to Cougar Pride to cover scholarships.
Seems odd that they donāt have some limited amount of family packs. We make way more than the $250 on the beer and concession sales. I favor the buzz from sellouts versus the higher prices. I also think a lot of people used the cheap tickets to help get new people to try Cougar football at a reasonable price.
I am in 131 and excited about the chairback option.
Hereās the FAQ on some of the issues that have been brought up:
http://www.uhcougars.com/tickets/faq.html#GA
Why was general admission removed?
We received several complaints throughout the 2016 season that fans in the GA sections could not find seating. Making the GA sections now reserved will increase the fan experience by ensuring every ticket has a seat at each game.
Why is there not a Family Plan listed for 2017 Football?
At this time, we have not established our family plans options, however we anticipate this option being available in the near future. We are in the process of establishing what inventory will be available and the pricing of that inventory. We will be contacting via email and over the phone all of our 2016 Family Plan Season Ticket Holders when this is determined.
Why does every seat include a donation?
For all Season Ticket holders to experience the benefits of being a Cougar Pride member and help support our 425 student athletes. Being a Cougar Pride member offers benefits outlined at uhcougarpide.com
Thereās more than just these questions on there, but these were the questions I noticed that were brought up in the thread.
So hold tight Family Plans will be available.
I hope the new pricing structure results in higher CP donations.
They did the same thing with the basketball voucher tickets this year. They held them back to see how season tickets sales went before offering, except in that case, they initially indicated there would be no vouchers this year. That changed when season ticket sales did not go as well as they thought.
Additionally, I donāt buy the no seats argument. General admission seating was open on the North side, people just didnāt know where GA seating was after buying a GA ticket. I had GAs sitting in my seat at the 50 yd line once. They said, āI thought the whole stadium was General Admission.ā I said āNo, itās in the 2nd deck of the end zones, now get out of my seats.ā
My guess is they proceed, find out the season ticket sales arenāt going nearly as well as they thought they would, wait far too late in the process to finally announce family plans, and then suffer a very moderate bump from a perturbed fan base.
Iād like to know just how the difference in season ticket purchases for basketball were from last year to this. I know I didnāt buy because the flex tickets option was gone.
Also, how does one not know where the GA section is? Do they not print that on the tickets?
Thanks for the link Pray. I think it would a really bad idea if they donāt bring back the family pack. I have seats in section 130 but spend about 1 quarter each game sitting in the GA section with 48 of my friends/family members. Iām afraid if thereās no family plan, those 48 might turn into 8.
Well looks like I was right about the CP part. They want more CP donations but also want to get more season ticket holders involved in CP.
Including CP as part of the price does have a better feel for it than the old ābuy tickets for this amount plus mandatory CP donation.ā Now the total price is more transparent.
The only problem I have, is that it appears the price per game went up while doing this. They should have kept the price per game the same so the transition would be smoother.
However they did it, there would be some complaints. Of course the games were a bargain for so long, now weāre catching up to a higher market price.
If they donāt keep prices the same no matter how many games, we bring in less money.
Except they jacked up the price a lot for last season. That was acceptable to me because there was an additional home game and marquee matchups.
You know what brings in less money? Outpricing your market and then trying to fill up your stadium with giveaways and discount rates the week of games.
Our group has seats in 229. This year the CP donation is $450 per seat and each ticket has a purchase price of $200. Same as 2015 season so no increase for our seats for 2017. Weāre OK with this.
I imagine think they just want to see how much they can sell in the those areas at full price. Once they feel theyve maxed out, theyāll fill the rest with family plans Iām sure. Then, of course, will come the Groupon/mini plans to fill the rest of the gaps in a pinch. Followed by letting in more students if the occasion arises.
if youāre spending 1 quarter in the 300s and your tickets are in the 130s then i think we know why the GAs complained they couldnt find seats LOL.
Kinda lost me on that joke. Why would a GA ticket holder sitting in another section create a shortage of GA seats?
bc there are prob 4,999 attendees who go visit their friends in GA too. its lame when you hafta excribe it
Grandcamp, if u ever hangout in the family plan GA section, itās always 1/3 empty except for the UL game last yr and memephis game the year before. Itās a perfect place for the kids to roam around without obstructing other fans view. Trust me, Iām not taking anyone seat.
That GA section has some good seats on the first few rows. I always wondered why people would buy tickets up in the 300s when the could buy GA, come in 30 minutes before kickoff, and sit in a much better seat. Maybe 300s ticket holders started to figure that out. And who is going to kick someone out of GA? There are no assigned seats.
GA seats, the cheapest, should be 300s sections from the back of the end zones to the 10 yard line.
Fantastic idea.
