Season Ticket plans announced by UH Athletics

How so?

Because there is no discount. From last week’s email…

As an incentive for ticket holders to commit early, those who renew or purchase tickets prior to April 30th will receive a discounted rate.

Hunter says the price you’re getting now is the discounted rate. If you wait after April 30th, the tickets could be more.

Lame. That email letter was so much BS.

Looking at Tiger Stadium cost, an equivalent to my seats would require a $1020 Tradition Fund Donation and a $490 ticket price to total $1510 which is more than twice the $723 total I will be paying for my chairback seats in section 228. There are no seats in the original bowl less than $740 total, those “cheap seats” are in the south endzone light blue section.

What’s your CP donation? Not included there, right? Previously paid?

I can’t believe the wailing over these prices; we obviously have a lot who aren’t P5 fans.

my discount came out to be about 25%

My CP donation is not in the email. I did my donation at the same time when I renewed though. Checked my cougar pride account and my donation for the CP football per seat is reflected already.

LSU is not a peer comparable. It’s sorta disingenuous to use LSU as the comparison of how P5 prices are like especially when there’s been multiple comparisons from TCU, Baylor, OK State and Tech. I think it’s quite fair to acknowledge and complain that some seats like mine are 100s more expensive than comparable peer institutions. I don’t appreciate being gouged for a decade plus of loyalty.

So P5 they would compare UH to LSU ?
Seems moronic.

Everyone has their own opinion on the subject and has to make their own decision on what they do with their money. I am retired and not wealthy; but I will be keeping my seats and I think the prices are reasonable. However, if you feel otherwise, that is your prerogative and you can either pay to renew your current seats, move to cheaper seats, or drop your season tickets. It’s really that simple.

We have moved into a different strata and need to fund our athletics accordingly. Did anyone think prices wouldn’t go up substantially once we got into a P5 conference? We have been clamoring for the B12 for over 25 years and when we get in we have all of this complaining about the price of the neighborhood. Maybe if we had thousands more seats or more big bucks donors we could charge less, but our prices are based on our needs.

I showed that section 230 is $100 more at TCU with the same seven game schedule and UT.

Agree. Part of the challenge for the Athletic Department is to educate fans what is needed to be a competitive P5 team. Pictures and comparisons would help in this regard. For example, prominently post drawings on the new football only facility on Cougar Pride and the Athletic Websites. Compare ticket prices and per person donations from the other public B12 schools. Discuss upcoming stadium upgrades. Give the fans something to look forward to while we are writing the checks (if people write checks anymore).

If you noticed, I was replying to a different post about the comparisons with our prices and LSU’s. I didn’t post the original, just pointed out the comparison.

As for this question, “So P5 they would compare UH to LSU?” I don’t even understand what you are asking. My post about P5 fans was a different opinion about all of the wailing. I find it moronic to expect more for less.

The big12 is a p5 prob 3rd best in football or close now. I was just pointing out that Lsu fans and p5 fans just do it. The alternative is to stay g5 and pay less? I agree they shouldn’t increase prices this yr and sell it out but it is what it is at this point so we will see how it goes.

Thank you guys for letting me know we could call in and renew my 2 season tickets now. I just called and spoke with Issac and he got me renewed in only a few minutes. In section 128 at the 40 yd line only 5 rows down from the main concourse (fast and easy access to food and bathrooms). Including the UT game it was only $1,680.00 I thought it was going to be a lot more than that. I will still give more to CP.

This made it all feel so real. Man. we are both giddy looking at the schedule for this year on UH site vs games last year. It’s been a long time since the SWC and will be even better at TDECU.

I don’t sit in 230. And I’m pretty sure I said “some seats like mine are $100s more expensive than comparable peer institutions”. Which is true.

The nicer ones? Apparently Texas tech has cheap tickets but I don’t think TCU does
