Watching that game and the IU game I thought why don’t these teams just air it out. Both got so conservative.
I remember car and Co destroying PSU. They were bragging on their run D and Case threw for 300…in the first half.
Much harder to stop a high flying passing attack than a mediocre run game.
A pass heavy attack is mechanical. It doesn’t happen by sheer intentions alone. Had SMU attempted to throw 60 times they would have had six INT’s and twelve sacks.
I think there’s a mythology about passing equaling a greater possibility of winning. I think beating a better team resides in the mind of the coordinators and the strength of the linemen. Situational tactics and brute force.

What body of work? They beat no one! Lost to BYU! The one other half way decent team (Clemson) played they lost to. And then got blown out by Penn State.
I think BYU or CU would have been more deserving!

To SMU’s defense, they were still trying to figure out who their starting QB would be. Even then, it was a close game still.
Louisville is highly rated in a ton of respected rankings/metrics. At the end of the day they went 11-1 in the regular season playing out of a major conference. If we’re going to say that doesn’t warrant inclusion over a three loss Bama team then this sports garbage.

Looks like it! This looks like it will be an even worse shellacking than the one SMU got! The 1st round games have been rather one-sided. Even the Texas-Clemson game was not really close.

That’s where I disagree with you. Coming in 2nd in the weakest CFB conference means they didn’t win it on the field. The Big 12 had a much better claim.

Smooooo didnt beat anybody and neither did Indiana. Straight ass to include the Hoosiers. They never should have been ranked that high.

ISU had three losses compared to two for smu.
I wonder if teams ever get whooped in fcs or NFL playoffs games
