SMU in ACC

Well again only smu was elevated and the 3 took up spots.

I’d be crying if tulane, Memphis and rice were elevated.

As of now only 4 g5s were elevated
UH
Cincy
Ucf
Smu
Byu to me was a p5
So 4 or 5
Which isn’t bad considering all the movement

Rice being p5 would suck but if they go Acc later after it’s depleted then the Acc is no longer p5 anyway

If you recall the pac was looking at Tulane before the 4 corners went big12 along with smu.

So, Stanford and Cal baseball will never have a true home conference series.

This whole delusional setup damages the stature ACC, and does absolutely nothing to helps its stability above what the GIR was doing.

It’s the dumbest realignment move in history.

It’s a temporary measure. Fla st and clemson want out so they wait then screw.

Their olympic sports vs. Cal or Stanford may be like the USFL.

Also, is SMU bringing on baseball or will the ACC pay DBU to work a schedue so they can use their field?

They won’t.

They haven’t had a ranked finish since the death penalty, and I don’t see them ever becoming a power.

Hell, Penn State and Baylor recovered from horrible scandals, so it obviously can be done…

But SMU hasn’t.

That should tell you something. They will NOT become a top ACC team. And when the conference disintegrates, certainly the B1G and SEC won’t take them. I hope that we won’t.

SMU to the B1G??? Get serious now. They aren’t AAU, and aren’t even R1.

NOT happening.

Play for free? Transportation costs to both coasts will be onerous. Honestly, would have to do a pro/con list before saying I would go or stay.

NC State flipped?

AH-HA!!!

I KNEW IT!!!

All the more reason for FSU, Clemson, and UNC to BAIL!!!

Smu Something something memphis, something p5.

There’s a joke in there somewhere.

  :joy:

Gentlemen the most important thing here is that there was more conference realignment and Memphis was still left out. Haha they must be stewing right now

Keep in mind, they aren’t getting TV money for 9 years, but they will share in the pool for bowl games, CFP, March madness (the ACC is no Big 12, but they aren’t bad).

Memphis being screwed is the best thing.

That money pot is nowhere near as big as TV.

For 9 years, the typical Big 12 school will be making $30 million to $50 million on that alone.

SMU? ZERO!!!

Definitely wouldn’t want to be them.

You do know that they’re a rich school? It’s not like they were making much in the AAC anyways. If UH was in their position and turned down the ACC to stay in the AAC, I would be livid.

Clearly a good move for SMU. It’s kind of like they are betting on the futures market. They really had nothing to lose by making the move. I don’t like 'em, but they did the best thing they could do. It might come to almost nothing if the ACC breaks apart sooner rather than later, but at least they get some benefits in the short term, though not financially.

Ncst flipped bc they know they have no other landing spot

I would probably think that when accounting for travel costs, recruiting costs, general overhead costs for all sports, facilities costs with no TV revenue for the next decade or so it’ll be around 600-900 million dollars over that span. Not even mentioning NIL but if they can afford it then all the power to them.

What will they be making in the AAC over that time span?

They were making like 7 million in the AAC but the expense is a lot lower when you are going to be in a G5. Pezman mentioned this as well that the operating budget in the P5 is around 110 million a year.

Agreed, it’s nowhere near the TV revenue, but at least they get a little something for a few years.

let’s not kid ourselves here. if we had the same amount of money we would’ve done the same thing pre big 12 move

it’ll be interesting to see how this goes for them
