SMU in ACC

Texas our Texas all hail the mighty state! Being a thousand miles away I root for all Texas teams. Except Texas, A&M, Baylor, Tech and TCU

Better shot to get a good landing place if you are at the top of the ACC when it collapses rather than in the middle of the AAC.

Brilliant move for SMU IMHO. Imagine if they are competing for ACC titles in a few years.

One thing’s for sure.

Cal and Stanford’s Olympic sports are about to become the ultimate “Road Warriors.”

It’s why Fla st etc agreed for now. They get money for now and keep trying to leave so it’s a good deal for them for now unless it messes up voting etc but then they can wait it out then leave.

If they do clemson,nc etc will want to leave saying see we’re losing to smu, we’d rather be beaten in the sec than this.

Okay I was under impression that FSU, Clemson and UNC were still no votes. Heard that NCSt flipped

Also, will there be a unanimous vote that usually comes out. Imo, will speak volumes is the vote is anything less. What a toxic situation with unequal revenue, dissension among the top brands and a prostitute. This is gonna be fun

Absolutely stunned they did this. And FYI, athletics at Virginia Tech didn’t want this from what I heard. This was a presidential decision from Tim Sands focused largely on trying to get into the AAU by trying to curry favor with 2 of the founding members, Stanford and Cal.

Its all to kiss the ass of Stanford and Cal. LOL

Can’t imagine Tech or TCU being happy about this. Probably gonna hurt them in recruiting a ton in the DFW area.

I popped by the Memphis message board following the SMU announcement and it’s glorious. There’s talk about dropping football by some fans. That won’t happen, of course, but they get what they deserve. I laughed the whole time.

Not sure if fully oked but it seems like it will.

Just saying , it does have some positives short term.

Memphis, rice , Tulane screwed for a while longer then the Acc is full for now then breaks apart right when smu asks for a paycheck lol

Need to change your conference name ACC to “A&PCC” (Atlantic Pacific Coast Conference).

Army or UT Donkey Show to the AAC?

Would you stay in the AAC over going to the ACC? This will do wonders for their programs. I bet their basketball elevates tremendously with Duke, North Carolina and Virginia coming to campus. In football, FSU, Clemson, Miami etc. to Ford stadium? Over playing Tulsa, ECU, and Rice?

Membership has its privileges.

I bet President Khator is thinking the same way. I mean, if Miami and ASU are in the AAU, why not UH?

AAC buyout $ for SMU next.
Will they just write a check or do the long term payments like UH, etc ?

Looks like NC/NC State not a package deal anymore.
NC State will fit nicely in a B12 Piedmont/ Ohio Valley.
Add NC State/ Pitt/ Louisville/ VT w Cinn & WVU.

I work with a Clemson alum. He is so pissed despite being able to see his team in person. Lol

This gets more insane by the minute! SMU going to construct “conference” facilities too? Lol

If SMU ends up as one of the better schools in the ACC, then I disagree they end up homeless if the ACC implodes.

Either the ACC remains a power conference, or SMU gets an invite to the B1G or Big 12.

SMU will undoubtedly see a major increase in fan support from this, and you bet the TCU is pissed right now.
