SMU

Brilliant move by SMU. I don’t believe the ACC is collapsing anytime soon…

I think CFP first year in a new conference qualifies. Again, an order of magnitude better than UH - so actually no comparison.

Believe what you will.

“Collapsing” may indeed not occur.

But its biggest brands WILL move. The only question is when.

Being an order of magnitude better than UH, again, does NOT constitute “killing it.”

Most of college football would be “killing it” following that logic.

What about CFP first year in new conference? Please, if that were us, we’d be in EVERYONE’s face about it.

The peepee envy of sMU is amazing. Just admit they are better than we are right now.

Again…3/4 of college football can make that claim.

No reason to respect anyone purely on THAT basis.

SMU is ranked 6th. We’re 84th so that’s not the comparison. If you can’t respect them for being 6th, well then you have other issues with them.

It certainly feels like they are more a part of the “cool kids” or “haves” than we are right now.

First of all, they aren’t ranked 6th in the latest BCS rankings.

Second of all, they are overrated in my mind.

Don’t care about your estimation of them, which we all know to be tainted. I care about what they have factually accomplished, which is better than us. And we should work on it

As I said, probably 3/4 of college football has factually accomplished more than UH over the last two seasons.

I don’t respect anyone purely on THAT basis.

Dude, they have achieved FAR more, so STOP with the 3/4 of college football drivel.

SMU was ready for their DECADES long move to rejoin the Power Conferences…we were not.

End of story.

WE “hoped” a washed up WVU coach was our ticket…we drooled when he had a prefabricated good season but soon…we found out he was a fraud.

SMU, on the other hand, is IN THE PLAYOFF in year One of their return to the Big Boys league!

SMU’s resources aren’t unlimited. They lost QB Keelon Russell to Alabama. Kevin Jennings was lightly recruited but beat out four star Preston Stone in the BYU game.

Actually, I’d say, Indiana was. At least SMU made to their conference championship. Indiana played buckeye and got whooped. They also barely beat a mediocre Michigan.

This sounds like a snippet from one of Dr Brown’s Philosophy lectures.

Well done

Yes, there is a reason and it is NOT SMU.

They are trying to leave because schools like Vanderbilt and Illinois get higher media revenue. They are upset their media contract was so long term and did not take into account the explosion of media value for college football. They are suing to leave for more money, not to get away from SMU.

It’s close.

Indiana is VERY marginal as well. I’ve posted that they were overrated elsewhere.

I thought BOTH Indiana and SMU were overrated.

Had SMU beaten Clemson, then the Big 12 would not have gotten a bye. IT is simple rankings. Not a conspiracy against the ACC.

Same with AZ St getting the bye over Clemson. Az St was ranked higher going into championship games and had a blow out win. No bias, but the committee actually standing behind what they said about not jumbling the standings. No more 2014 garbage. I was actually impressed they stood by it this year and also let in SMU. Was not expecting it.
