I think they weren’t making moves because they were instructed to contain. Hurts still got us on the perimeter with his legs but you dont want to get up field too fast directly in front of him. That’s giving him easy access to green grass, especially if our DBs our in man (running with their backs to the QB).
We rushed and blitzed; but they pretty much picked up our blitz most of the time. Also Hurts kept dropping so deep, we couldn’t get to him soon enough and often when we did, he sidestepped the rush and either threw a completion or took off.
I just watched a recording of the game and was able to rewatch certain plays over and over. Our DL did give a good effort, but was being blocked well, and held even better. I think we will do much better in the future and be really improved over last year. Remember who we were playing against; hint, it wasn’t the little sisters of the poor.
Actually you can see the one OL taking the DL to the ground then falling over the top of him. That’s a holding call that was missed.
