I think they could have done a bit better with the locker room and lounge area. It seems like all the other facilities put most of their effort into the actual lockers and lounge space by
putting pool tables, games and really nice lockers. The movie theater is a nice touch though.
Like I said, before admin deleted my previous post, those areas will be upgraded in about 5 years. Apparently, there was not enough budget to compete with other Big 12 locker rooms.
In accordance with the upgrade policy of coach Sampson, every 5 years, there should be a facility upgrade of some sort.
Im middle aged. Maybe not hip with the kids.
But, the designs on the walls looks bad. The color scheme throughout is very dark. Alot of black & red.
Also the mention of the old players & coaches, was very half ass. A framed cheap picture on the wall for Andre Ware? You could’ve done a wall mural of your great QBs at UH.
You have a ton of wall space. You could’ve done something way better to honor Keenum, Ware, Ward, Yeoman, etc
Good start. But alot of improvements can be made.
This type of wall, showing your FB history, is what football needs:
Where’s the picture of the 2015 FB team, in your building? The best UH team this century. That should be somewhere in your building. You gotta show your history MUCH better
130 million. Allocate a chunk of that to the locker room and lounge. That’s where the players spend their time.
I’m sorry to say, but that $130M was for increased construction cost to just get the FOC and suites built. I’m not upset about any of the money allocation because the facility is great.
In about 5 more years, they are going to spend millions more for locker room and other upgrades. Mark my words.
Yeah, let’s be better in five years. Not now. Ok.
yeah the money was spent on the shell of the FOC, Suites , Stadium seating and weight room. The bells and whistles in the interior will come in a few years.
The suites, party deck and extra stadium seating was needed so they can have a revenue generator so money was invested in that.
once the revenue from the new stadium suites, club seating and party deck come in along with the big12 money you will then start seeing interior upgrades.
Yes, our facilities will be better in 5 years. A football program and its facilities have to get better about every 5 years or get left behind its competition.
Just ask coach Sampson on the necessity of facility upgrades.
That’s not my point. But we’ll go all night with this.
It’s was a rout from the start too. The fumble on the opening kick off generated one of the loudest crowd reactions I’ve heard at any stadium/arena.
the point is that money was already a constraint during the programming and conceptual phase years ago. and now with how construction pricing went up due to external economic factors the past few years means that even more had to be cut from scope and value engineered. we simply don’t have the money… yet.
But even with the money that they had to spend, I still think that for me, the design/ layout etc. could have all been better. They had money to put into a movie theater and new locker room. It’s good. I still think that it could have all been designed better.
We can still make this happen. I have faith.
Maybe back in the Herman-AAC days, but I doubt that is still the case.
SMU spent less on their end zone project and seems to have gotten more bang for their buck. Just sayin’…
3pm kickoffs in Aug and Sep home games!
Well I sit towards the west end zone and while the operations facility looks impressive, it totally cut off the breeze. I was stifling in the stands.
I agree, the new end zone stands looked GREAT. I sit on the complete opposite side (102) and it was very hot in there. Might be the hottest game I’ve been to. There was simply no air moving. Very stuffy.
And some of you who sweat and smell so terrible need to put on more deodorant or leave early and go shower. I walked past some rank ass people.
Now that our end zone facility is done, could we maybe add some small things that would make a huge difference in our stadium? I’m talking a ring of honor, bigger US/Texas flags and also add conference flags. Maybe paint the handrails and guardrails red or black to get some more contrast in the place. It’s not like these changes would cost a fortune. Our stadium is 11 years old and still seems unfinished because minor additions like these have gone ignored. They could make a huge difference, especially like adding some palm trees ![]()
You had me at Palm Trees!
