I am in North Carolina. We are at a children’s museum with our daughter. Several kids have Mbappe, etc jerseys on but like my cousins from Seattle by age 10 to 12 they transition to football, basketball, etc and leave soccer behind.
They do!
That’s the problem.
Our National Team is full of soft rich club kids from the burbs with no grit or heart
My buddy on here’s daughter plays in Kingwood. She’s about 9 and my daughter played 1 yeat at age 5 but complained about the heat.
Stop making baseless statements. Educate yourself and find out about the U.S. media rights for:
WC
EPL
La Liga
Serie A
Ligue 1
Bundesliga
MLS
USL
Compare them to 1970’s rights to today. Then talked to us about media rights. The U.S soccer media rights for these leagues is on the way up. Like it or not it is happening.
As far as pay to play I already expressed my feelings about it. It is a racket and yes it is very expensive. That is what is slowing down our players development. When I played I played for the city that I lived in. We had hands me down jersey. Yes, none of that BS participation trophy or a brand new jersey every season. These non profit clubs IMO are all about making money. They could care less about players development. To charge parents $100’s/$1,000’s because little Johnny is going to play in a tournament is highway robbery. By definition soccer is an inner city game. I betcha you did not know that. The reason that soccer is the number one sport is because it can be played anywhere. In the streets, sand box, gravel patch, beach, parking lot, tennis courts you can play soccer. You just a round object. No goals? You use your shoes, your backpack, lamp post, garage door etc…the possibilities are endless. World soccer players develop their basic skills on these surfaces not a well manicured field. Why? Because when you play on all surfaces the moment you step on a grass field it is like playing on an ideal surface.
You believe what you want to believe law. Numbers do not lie and more importantly $Billionaires wanting/investing in soccer in the last 30 years tell you what is taking place.
Bad coaching will ruin children’s attention and passion. Sports is not for everyone either.
They aren’t baseless.
I’ve provided the actual numbers.
You have provided nothing but a snapshot. In any business class you present a clear understanding of an historical period. This is Business 101 law. You want to argue about numbers? Present an historical explanation. You have failed again to do so. You keep making the same failed argument. Another pointless conversation.
Please pay attention to this matter.
The more I think about it the more I feel like the closest analog to MLS today is probably the WNBA. Essentially it is very niche and currently heavily propped up internally by a single star (Clark in WNBA and Messi in MLS) but also is really no comparison to a much more popular version of their sport - NBA for the WNBA and high level Club and International teams for MLS.
One could make an argument that ‘the game where you dribble a ball and shoot it through a hoop’ is quite popular in the US. Yes that is true for the NBA not so for the WNBA. Same thing with ‘the sport where you kick a soccer ball into a goal’ - that is true for high level international play especially the US national teams and high level club teams in the best world leagues like the EPL and La Liga not so for MLS. Honestly it is really that simple.
USA v Guatemala - Gold Cup Semi’s - 6pm FS1
I feel confident in this one but you never know, just ask Canada in the quarterfinal eh?
USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!
I like this Diego Luna guy!
edit - goal #2
Good win today.
On to the finals!
Anyone considering going to the final at NRG?
I looked into tickets. There are quite a few on all the major ticket sites.
But a little too much for a decent seat, not to mention the hassle of getting into and leaving NRG.
So I’ve decided to watch on TV.
USA fans will be outnumbered like always lol
…and…go on.
I would if I wasn’t in Virginia.
Ok here we go.
USA - MEX
Ugh.
Just heard the TV announcer say it was mostly fans of the other team in attendance for a US national team game in the USA.
ANY DENYING that soccer is NOT a top spectator sport in the USA now?
I’m watching the game on Fox. Its hard to watch its so hazy, but that early score was great to watch
