That was a great goal!
This will continue to be a heated rivalry.
Wouldn’t be surprised for the match to be decided by PKs
I won’t respond to idiotic comments.
What is mind boggling to me is how USSoccer and the local organizers have NO RESPECT for players safety.
Full disclosure I was around USSoccer for over eight years.
The field conditions yesterday were atrocious and dangerous to the players. This is not the first time that this has happened. Even far back in the 90’s we had the Rose Bowl hosting international games with new turf laid out days before the game. Anyone that plays sports on grass field know how dangerous it can potentially be. You could lose footing and here goes your acl. There is no excuse for this, none. Same on the organizers, USSoccer and the TV networks. Why TV networks? Because you broadcast the games and you should demand the best field conditions for your broadcast.
1-2 for two National teams trying to find their identity was highly predictable. Unfortunately our players are not good enough right now. That is a given. Pochettino does not have a whole lot to take away from these games. At least he knows now who can step up to a new level or not. The problem is that time is running away. The World Cup is just a few months away now.
One more point, the Gold Cup is is the equivalent to the European Championship. At the same time this p.o.s. infantino schedules a so called Clubs World Cup. This is how much respect that infantino’s F.I.F.A. has toward the CONCACAF Association. This same p.o.s. infantino had the b…s to show up and give the trophy. His F.I.F.A. duties obliges him to show up. Maybe what he should have done is make an announcement that F.I.F.A. is donating a few $M’s to the Guadalupe disaster victims and all affected.
According to Infatino (FIFA President), 12.5 million people attended matches for the Club World Cup… and 2-3billion people would have tuned in after tomorrow’s final.
Let me know when NASCAR or hockey generates those types of numbers…
Im not saying the world doesn’t care about Soccer…I’m saying America doesn’t care.
Who made the US National Team is NOT water cooler talk at every office in the United States…it’s not even talk on the American sports radio shows that talk sports 24-7.
Even how Simone Biles or US olympian xyz performed gets WAY more attention than the Men’s US Soccer Team.
In other countries, their National Team roster IS a huge topic of discussion and EVERYONE follows their National Team.
And then.our professional league is another huge step down in disinterest
Idiotic debate. How many soccer franchises are around now vs 1994 when we had the last World Cup on US soil?
I can’t wait for the USL to go to a “world format” meaning promotion and relegation.
Will soccer become the number 1 sport in America? Nobody knows, it is not #1 right now but it is easy to imagine it.
Hey…in the 1994 World Cup i was on the playground pretending I was the next Roberto Baggio!
It’s a ‘peak and valley’ event.
There will be a huge buzz during the World Cup but little buzz leading up to it and the buzz will disappear the second it ends…and back to normal.
This lack of Gold Cup Interest or Coppa de Americas last summer reinforces that.
It’s a niche sport here…which is FINE!
It’s just an interesting enough sport to capture the passion of Americans
Let me know when that Club Cup gets the same TV ratings in the USA that NASCAR gets.
Only at that point can anyone claim that pro soccer has anywhere near the same following in the USA that NASCAR has in this country.
No one is debating pro soccer’s popularity OUTSIDE the USA.
But inside the USA, it’s no better than #6.
Well I was graduating college around the time of the last WC in the USA.
Soccer has grown since.
But not to levels that it would make it any higher than #5 or #6 in terms of TV ratings and fan following.
It will NEVER pass the Top Three during any of our lifetimes.
Considering the fact that we were the very first country England shared their “aSSOCiAtion Football” sport with, that they themselves called SOCCER …i’d say we digressed.
The fact we still refer to it by the English slang name, and they renamed it, reinforces how long America has had the sport and we did well in the early World Cups
I just purchased the rest of the season MLS season pass for 50 bucks to watch Intermiami games.
They suspended Jordi Alba and Messi for playing in MLS alll star game. Bunch of bs. Messi is upset and his contract ends after this season. They better reverse the decision. He is to MLS what Clark is to the WNBA.
Both are stars of niche sports but Clark is easily the bigger household name IN AMERICA.
Last summer was the summer of Kaitlyn Clark.
Might be different for the rest of the World but im going to guess the TV ratings for Miami’s games are anemic, at best.
Edit: the MLS BEST viewership numbers are on par with middle of the pack G5 viewership numbers…and that’s WITH Messi.
Can we stop this nonsense that more than only a handful of Americans care about soccer
How much more proof do we need to give yiu continuously going in 50+ years now??
