For the tough guys here that don’t actually listen to what Present Khator’s objectives/ goals, here are some from the 2025 address
- become a top 50 Public University
- stress 4 year graduation timeline and provide help as needed to get more studehts to graduate in 4 years
- continue to become more of a destination campus with 1,000 new dorms + dining options in the pipeline
- major investments in AI
- double our Research
- advance our Medical school into a Health Science Center
- increase Campus safety via new lighting initiatives
- Centennial project to be outdoor gathering space for students. She mentioned a surprise Art element that she hopes will also attract non student visitors.
Currently, UH attracts 70% of its students from the Houston region.
For the 2025 school year, UH accepted 48,000 Freshman applications…and 6,000 started this year

Not accepted, but received 48,000 freshman applications.
Accepted is a different, and lower number than the 48,000.
And it was 48,000 for 6,200 spots. UH raised the amount of freshman spots to 6,700 to accommodate the demand. More talented students are applying to UH than ever before.
