Surprise Stadium (@ 20 miles north of Phoenix, AZ)to Host Big 12 Baseball Championship Starting in 2026

Have you ever been there? Have you ever experienced the SEC tournament? Other than the CWS, it is the best thing in college baseball.

I went to the CWS at Rosenblatt. Don’t think I can ever go back without it being there. Unless we make it.

I have been to Rosenblatt and the new stadium. Give me Rosenblatt. If you get a chance, go to Hoover. It is an incredible atmosphere.

I heard the new CWS stadium has too much of a “corporate” feel. Does that sound right?

When I went to the CWS, I remember walking up the right field stairs thinking this is a moment I’ll never forget. Got to the top and thought I was in heaven. Watched Miami-Stanford play that night.

The state of Arizona lives, eats, and breathes baseball. They host spring training for a Chuck of MLB and ASU/Arizona have historically been strong programs. It really is a great state to host the Big 12 tourney.

The state of Texas doesn’t? They will have a stadium that will be susceptible to weather delays and extreme heat. Not to mention to mention that the current location is more centralized for this nationally spread out conference.

Heat yes. weather delays no.

Gotta throw a bone to the PAC teams.

There won’t be weather delays. Also, Globe Life Field is a dull and stale environment to be hosting the tourney. There is nothing aesthetically pleasing about that stadium. It does not feel like a college atmosphere. It felt like a showcase for Perfect Game.

And surprise will? Who’s going to travel there except a few Arizona fans? College baseball tournaments do not have great environments. If you tuned into the SEC tournament, it was the same thing.

No.

That is exactly right. It is very corporate and very cookie cutter. Just feels like a convention and not a baseball tournament. When you were at Rosenblatt, you knew you were a part of a baseball experience. I got to go a couple of times and was there for it’s last year. It was an awesome experience. Can’t say the same thing about the new stadium.

Are you saying that you don’t think Hoover is a college baseball experience? You think it is like all of the other tournaments?

There was no one in those stands. It was just like the environment at Globe life last night. Maybe that will change for the championship but I bet the Big 12 championship will have a better crowd too.

Yes.

I did my undergrad at Texas A&M.

It’s a fun experience but overhyped.

Maybe I just described Hoover and being an Aggie lmao

Okay, I’m not sure why everyone is thinking I called Arizona ass lol

I said Hoover, AL was ass. The stadium is cool and the atmosphere is fun but the state of bama and city itself is meh.

There are a ton of weather delays every year during the sec tournament because of where Hoover is.

I have not said anything bad about Surprise, AZ

Carry on with your future plans!

Are you talking about the first day where they let the bad teams play to just get into the quarters? Those teams had to win two games just to get into the real tournament. Otherwise, you need to get your tv checked out. It was packed when they started the quarters. Other than the CWS, it is the best college baseball experience. The Big 12 tournament can’t hold the SEC’s jock when it comes to attendance and atmosphere. .

I’ll definitely agree with that. The stadium for the big 12 was a ghost town. Hoover metropolitan has grass berms where kids run around and be kids. Always full.

I did not want LSU winning last night.

I think you misunderstood me. I was joking that I had a summer vacation booked to Hoover but was going to cancel because of your assessment. I’m good with Arizona. Maybe down the road I’ll combine the B12 tournament with a golf trip.
