My bad!!
Sorry sir
I hadnāt had my caffeine yet
I do apologize
lol - all good. Just wanted to be clear with you. But Hoover is now off my travel list.
it is, very corporate imo; never made rosenblatt wish i had; seemed unique.
as for the tear downs of dfw, its actually pretty nice, i lived in dallas and worked near the dfw airport years ago. by way of humidity, houston seems more like the armpit some days; but overall houston becomes more like dallas every year imo, just one big sprawling city.
and globe life does suck, dallas was hot as you know what in the summer but their previous stadium was a great ballpark. was one of my favorites and i have been to probably 1/3 of all current mlb stadiums.
And so, moving it to Surprise is supposed to make it a ācollege friendly atmosphere? I think Surprise will be no different than the vibe at the AAC tournament in Clearwater. Just farther away from most of the schools. But whatever.
This is why you are one of the best posters on this site. You get it.
My preference would be to have conference teams host. We hosted twice during the C-USA years and it had a regional vibe.
I like what the Southland did this year; a regional/super-regional format. #1 SLU and #2 UTRGV hosted the āregionalsā, and since HCU was the highest seed to advance, they hosted the āsuper-regionalā.
But then it would make the Big 12 feel non P4 to me.
As opposed to an 88% empty Daikin Park?
The league is too big for that to work and there are a number of facilities that would not support it or are too small. It needs to move back to Bricktown in OKC. It was a perfect location for the teams and it was supported well.
Also, what the Southland did this year was BS. Have a double elimination tournament like everyone else. Survive and advance. Nobody payed attention to their tournament because it started a week earlier than everyone else. You shouldnāt have to win 5 games to advance.
I wish, but the Big12, SEC and ACC were all single elimination.
Tourneys need to be double elimination, but with the size of these conference now it makes it impossible, unless you limit the amount of teams that make the tournament.
Yes
True. I understand why the bigger conferences did that, but I would rather see them cut it down and have a double elimination tournament. All of them could very easily have a 12 team double elimination tournament. That is what the SEC and Big 12 had done before this year. The ACC changed their tournament to a single elimination tournament from one that had two pods where everyone played each other and the teams with the best record, who beat the best teams, would go on to the finals. It was worthless and the NCAA selection committee gave them zero respect for doing it that way.
One and done also discourages fans from traveling. If there is a chance you spend all that time and money to go, you should be guaranteed to see your team more than once.
Sort of like the hoops tournaments. Gotta love the event if your team is just average.
Obviously a bit further west than most would prefer, but I think it works out well.
Minor league stadium should help with the atmosphere. I havenāt been to that one in particular yet, but Iām betting itās pretty family friendly.
Outside of the games, thereās plenty of golf and resort type crap to do out here that may make the trip enticing for an entire family, as opposed to dfw or okc.
We definitely wonāt have any rain delays, and the temp is anyoneās guess. I live here in Phoenix. My nephew graduated from ASU 10 days ago. Sunny and high of 82. The weekend before? Sunny and a high of 104. As I write this, itās sunny and 72, heading up to 94.
(Just assume sunny. Itās always going to be sunny)
Also, just voted Number One spring training stadium in the country.
It is a great stadium and could be a great atmosphere, but the problem is that Phoenix isnāt really a college town. They support ASU fairly well in baseball but they will not support the whole tournament when Arizona teams are not playing.
