TCU doesn’t want to play SMU anymore

I’m all for playing Rice, but those stuffed shirt, preppy, racist, elitist miscreants at SMU can pound sand.
We know how they look down their overly cultured noses at us, and I, personally, will not forget the many insults and slights directed toward UH by their so-called fans. They can all gather at their country clubs and cry in their expensive liquor about the cruel hand fate has dealt them.

Add that to the list of things we have in common with TCU.

I do not like SMU for all the reasons stated above. Yes, I was around when they got the death penalty but I still wish they could play TCU. We old Coogs still remember the sting of rejection by our peers. It especially hurts when you love your University as much as I do . TCU still could change their minds as they have until 2025. Best wishes to both teams.

I’m OK playing Rice, I guess. It will suck when they play us close (or beat us), but it’s a good barometer of our program and lets us know when it’s time for the coach to go.

Playing them means a game with no travel and an opportunity to see the Coogs easily. It’ll only cost a few bucks and some splinters in our behinds.

Difference between UH getting spurned and SMU is their daddies will wipe their tears with Benjamins and have the maid re-starch their popped collars. We had to pick ourselves off the ground.

No to SMU. Would rather play UTSA.

Oh yes, our University pulled itself up by it’s bootstraps ! SMU never had such pain as UH .

I can’t think of a single big time football rivalry (UT vs OU, Michigan vs Ohio St, etc.) that isn’t based on hate between the fan bases.

I really really want to beat SMU & its fans on the field. There isn’t another non-P5 team that I feel that strongly about. I believe that OOC match up early each season would have a strong attendance.

I believe most of you on this forum dismissing SMU wouldn’t miss a game against them.

I don’t have any animosity against Rice. I also don’t want to play a tuneup game a Rice team just so I can go to another half empty stadium with no excitement.

Hey now they can always have homecoming at a soccer game again

Seconded

I think they should play every year and I hope we keep playing the Nerds every year.

Rice should be the G5 we play. We might consider a school like LA Tech or ULL or ULM to help with Louisiana recruiting.

What?!? We wouldn’t miss a game of UH vs SMU? I’m fairly confident to say that none of our matchups were sold out lol

Playing rice is a waste of time

Arroz would have to step up their commitment to their program before I care. And that can be done without sacrificing academics, look at Stanford.

I agree but it needs to be a 2 for 1. All we do is triple Rice’s attendance when we play there.

gonna miss hating on Memphis AND SMU…they were turning into good rivalries

No reason you can’t keep clowning them. Not like they will stop giving you ammo. Plus I don’t think we’ll have much time left after dealing with B12 mutual hate.

I agree with you about Memphis. A few months ago (when we were possibly considering G5 teams for expansion), I suggested on coogfans that Memphis would be a good candidate. They have decent football and good basketball. And our fans hate each other. That’s a good rivalry.

That suggestion drew the intense ire of most of the coogfan forum members. I’m glad my home address wasn’t posted on here. Lol
