TCU doesn’t want to play SMU anymore

The only time I will ever think of them again is if I see them mentioned in a news headline, then I will skip the article.

I think it is a bad look for TCU….running scared because smu put big NIL money on the table.
I love playing teams we hate. Yeah, that is not a power 5/4 mentality but we should scheduled th and beat them.
Yes, we risk losing. But we should not be a bunch of P-words

Memphis now = S. Miss

I hate playing Rice. Its all risk and no reward. It kills your SOS most years.

Well, that’s been our problem, Rice should be a low risk game.

What is the interest in playing Rice? Why not play San Jac or University of Phoenix? Mix it up.

Answer: generally a win (and often a lopsided one), virtually always a “home” game regardless of where it’s played, and historical/local rivalry.

Yea. Its dreadful.

Play Rice. A free travel game for the team, another “home” game whether there or here. A D1 school and there is history.

Just gymnastics to justify awful. I can’t control who we play. But I look at the Rice game with dread. Its depressing. I look at people that get excited about playing Rice and think, “you know this isn’t real, right?”

I doubt that many Alabama fans look at their games this year with Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga with dread or that it’s depressing. That sounds like more of a personal issue to me.

Well, it is a personal issue. I said it was just me.

I look forward to the Rice game. The fact that there’s a not insignificant chance that it will be competitive makes it more interesting, at least for me.

The games against Rice comes and goes with the excitement level; however, it’s been one sided for past 8 contests. Our overall record is 33-11 against them.

To compare Alabama playing Chattanooga or other big time power houses playing an in-state FCS opponent isn’t exactly apples to apples when comparing us to Rice.

Rice was a SWC opponent that put some competitive teams on the field at times. Bert Emmanuel and Trevor Cobb gave the SWC fits in the early 90s. Then you had your Clement and Casey years with Thor being so effective with the Wildcat formation.

It is an extra home game which is a nice and cost effective, but that isn’t quite what this program needs right now. We need exposure in a bad way. I think we’re going to 9 game conference schedule. That leaves us with the G5, FCS, and P5 schedule.

I’m all about making the G5 game against UTSA or SMU until we’ve established ourselves as a middling P5 brand.

Ws are the most important thing when building a brand. In November when the media is looking at records, the number in front of the dash is critical. 7-4 is better than 6-5.

So true

I would have never guessed we lost to Rice 11 times. Ugh!

Remember when Sumlin could have won CUSA with a Rice win but our D couldn’t stop James Casey… Ugh
