Anyone heading to TCU Friday? I doubt many will given it’s a Friday night game not because of any other reason, (). I thought I’d share some useful info for anyone going. I live in DFW so wife and I will be driving in mid afternoon.
Kickoff is at 6:30p. Amon G Carter has a strange setup. Visitor seats are in the NW corner on the home side. Plenty of seats available through TCU for better seats. I grabbed a pair in 300s for $100 with much lower fees than secondary sites.
Parking is limited and really expensive in the stadium lots. There are nearby churches that are cheaper and have shuttles to stadium. Some homes north of the stadium will allow you to park for $.
Doxology Bible Church off of Hulen St has free parking and you can catch shuttle to the stadium. No tailgating
Travis Street Baptist is also free with a shuttle. No tailgating
St. Stephen Presby is a pay lot but is only a mile from stadium. There is a TCU shuttle and is walkable. Tailgating is allowed starting 3 hours before.
There is awesome BBQ in Ft. Worth. Goldee’s and Panther City as some of the best in TX but has crazy lines and have to get there early. Dayne’s, Heim and Hurtado is good and probably less crazy. Hurtado is a big Rangers homer so make sure to talk some ish. Lots of good eats and drinks along West 7th and Magnolia Ave areas.
Drive safe and hope to run into a few Coogs, Friday. I think we’ll find the endzone finally and maybe the defense will chip in some points.
Too bad man. Fort Worth is an underrated city to visit. I was disappointed to see it was Friday when schedule came out but no way I’ll pass on catching the Coogs when they are within an hour.
TCU’s tailgating is incredible with all the tents near the stadium and in the main quad east of the stadium. I usually park at Paschall HS but it was $20 two years ago. I have to walk back but it’s less than a mile. The high school will be tricky since it’s a school day.
Is UHAA having any sort of reception? They had one two years ago about a block from campus. Sort of like the OU reception but OU was in a restaurant which was probably less $$.
Heim BBQ is good, I haven’t tried the other places.
If you are coming from Spring, Woodlands, Kingwood, etc then take 45 north to 287 in Ennis, Texas.
If you live in Cypress and or west Houston, you can save some miles and 30 minutes if you take 290 to Hwy 6 through Bryan/College Station to Waco and get to I-35.
Do drive the speed limit through the small towns on Hwy 6, they are known for speed traps.
Thanks for all that information. I am driving up and will be there. I snagged seats in section 233. My worst experience with opposing fans was a tcu game at the old Rob. Now I will be in the middle of 1000’s of them. Hope I have some Coogs near me.
It’s official, no UH sponsored tail gate.
“We will not be hosting a tailgate on site for this game. Please join the UH vs TCU Cougar Meetup the day before the game!”
