If you build it they won’t come
The first thing we need to do is build a great team.
We’ve had ‘plans’ in our design to go from 40K to 50K to 60K since the very beginning of the stadium build. IF the demand is ever there I’m sure we will expand. That is one HUGE IF. As everyone else has said we need to worry about filling 40K (or getting close to it) consistently.
That I will agree with. Our ticket office is abysmal. The goat, Brandon has left. Not sure what I will do now when something needs to get done.
Dos Equis as a sponsor would be cool.
The most expensive seat in any stadium is the empty one. Let that sink in a minute. Speedway Motorsports added expensive seating at Charlotte Motor speedway then removed them a few years later. If you watched last weeks Brickyard 400 last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway you saw thousands of seats unused when a decade ago there wasn’t an empty seat to be found. Nascar got greedy and took the fun out of going to races (think tailgating) and they now are reaping what they sowed. If you want to sell seats you have to have a product people want. Quality begets quantity not the other way around. Fertitta isn’t selling out because of the facility…it’s the PRODUCT. All of these things are linked together and all are important but I bet if Basketball started having losing seasons attendance would shrink dramatically. Go to a game in Austin and sit in the nosebleed seats and watch the game through binoculars and tell me you go because they have a big TV screen. Seriously? UH was on the path until the wheels fell off when the SWC folded. It’s gonna take time folks. Us old guys aren’t gonna be around to help little by little. Those of you left have got to find ways to get kids in school enthused. They’re the ones that will fill the seats vacated by older generations. I am very encouraged, in fact enthused by what I see happening now. The direction is now good. Do whatever you can to help that gain momentum. The Evil Empire has huge momentum as does the Cow College. This is a marathon not a sprint. Lets work together to get this thing moving in a positive direction. You can eat an elephant as long as you realize you have to eat it one bite at a time.
GO COOG!
I was at the Padres vs Nationals game tonight. Coog from DC.
Those aren’t naming rights, they’re advertising. If you look at scoreboard currently, I believe that the empty space next to the video panels will be reserved for just that.
I figured that’s where they were going to place the speakers.
We do not put up static signage on the scoreboard array anymore. The space on either side of the led panels are for the PA system speaker clusters. They will be covered with a black/grey covering. Ads will be digitally displayed on the videoboard itself. Just like the previous videoboard setup.
Well good. That will be better anyways.
Wait until you see the kiddy stadium Northwestern is playing in this year while their stadium is rebuilt. Maybe 10K.
I bet those huge speakers are going to blast us. Gonna hack my playlist to it.![]()
Brandon left? Wait was this recent?
Beginning of June. Went over to Rice, his alma mater.
hopefully he got a raise, good dude
Very unsettled situation there for the last several months. Just about everybody is wondering what, and to whom, will happen next.
Literally just called because i missed the deadline (which the email sent by them said otherwise) and called and i was on hold 20 minutes longer than i should’ve been.
Unfortunately, they have lost more than Brandon. My contact person last day was 1 week ago.
