TDECU Stadium Renovations & Expansions

What major did he get in College Station? How does it differ from UH main campus admission?

The Haven on Elgin was recently built with 649 beds right off campus. It’s so nice that many men’s bball players live there. Progress doesn’t happen all at once. Eventually there needs to be a decent grocery store nearby.

There was supposed to be a massive project to prohibit gentrification in the 3rd Ward where public funds went to a Midtown Redevelopment Group so they could procure empty lots for future affordable housing projects. Apparently $8.5mm was misused in the fund and 3 people were charged with felonies, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

HEB MacGregor Market is awesome. Less than 3 miles from The Haven. 2.5 miles from the Quad.

You are a little touched.

Now, compare that HEB with the one on Washington, with apartments above, and tell me which one is better for serving a college campus:

That picture is misleading

Half of that building is a multistory parking garage for HEB shoppers

I know this because I used to shop there when I lived literally down the street

That being said, it’s a great concept and efficient use of land, but again misleading pic lol

There’s that word again. I wonder what that word, gentrify, could possibly mean. Sounds a lot like the word ā€œtraditional.ā€ Doesn’t it?

Gentrification means people who were forced to live in a particular area and never had an equal chance to leave for better areas are now being forced out because suddenly said area is becoming more valuable and unaffordable for the initial inhabitants

or…the under-served, under-maintained areas are finally getting the infrastructure and quality developments they deserve. And in most case, this is the ONLY opportunity for the people in those areas to leave the horrible conditions for a better life.

If the anti-gentrification people were around 125 years ago they literally would have fought to keep all of the Irish immigrants in the 5 Points (literally, a Manhattan neighborhood built out of swamp land and caves with horrid living conditions).

Their future generations appreciated the ā€œgentrificationā€.

but most of the commuter students voted in favor of the stadium, so they in fact do want a good football program…not our fault the admin fumbled with the hires after Herman

It would be cool if they built something like that in the neighborhood north of the Haven.

Is that where Shameless was filmed?

Homeowners get compensated fairly for their property, which is worth more because there is interest in developing the land. Renters don’t own anything so they have no recourse, as is the case for all renters everywhere. Current residents then move to a more affordable area, which is nicer than they could previously afford because they sold their property for more than it was worth before there was interest in developing said property. Gentrification means everyone is benefitting. So it’s not a historic slum anymore, I’m so sorry.

There is more to it than that. 3rd Ward is comprised of mostly AAs that have a sense of community and roots embedded in their local churches and local businesses… Just because a developer comes and offers 20% above MV on your property doesn’t necessarily mean greener pastures. That includes new church, new community, new businesses and possibly a long commute. That also includes a drop in public transportation options if said people move to Fresno, Atascocita West/Humble, or other prominent AA suburban communities.
