No she shouldn’t. Open admission UHD would water down UH’s academic rankings.

Of course she can. ASU and AU having multiple satellite campuses does not put their ranking down. UHD and others can have different programs within the UH system. Times have changed when the days UHD was created.
I share your dream, but I am not sure that Renu does any longer.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have moved the COT out to Sugarland and effectively disengaged 4K undergrads from campus life.
Sadly, she allowed that fool Whitmire to bully her via ignorant complaints based on stereotypes into stopping the main thing she could have done to help us advance in the right direction.
She is FIGHTING huge anti- Traditional forces from Texas Politicians, like Mayor Whitmire, plus the archaic attitudes of the majority of our alums as evident by the overwhelming "status quo " sentiment by many of the responses here.
Her hands are tied…and some of these counterintuitive moves are above her.
She has to take the SMALL victories when she can but, if you read between the lines, she really wants us to become a Traditional Campus ASAP!
On another note is the Centennial Project still a GO?
It is going to require demolishing a whole buildinng and massive landscape improvements…so im thinking they need to start this summer to be done by Jan. 1 2027
I was a non traditional student. Good thing I am even welcome on campus. I had to work my way through, never attended a game. No time. After I graduated and had the funds that’s when I started attending games, became a life member with my wife’s blessing. Cougar Pride, season ticket holder in basketball and football. My son was blessed to be a traditional student.
The ultimate job of a university is to change lives. U of H did that for me.
I really don’t see why the debate about traditional vs non traditional students is even an issue.
Embrace everybody. Invite them to games. Build attendance one person and family at a time.

It has nothing to do with so called traditional students.
UHD and others…We all have to think of how it can translates into athletic attendance.
You get UHD and others part of the UH system involved and it potentially bring more interest to our athletic venues/support. The idea of belonging to U of H and supporting the UH sports programs has to be looked at.
Again I understand the initial idea decades ago but the world has changed U of H included. Let’s do it. It benefits everybody.
It’s especially dumb when you consider that universities are rapidly moving away from “traditional” experiences, given that students can largely graduate without ever attending a class in person.

On the renovation side, any more talk about transforming the current south locker room when both move to the new facility? When Pez was in Dallas he said there could be on field boxes, like Jerry World in Arlington, from the old locker room. Anybody in the know heard anything?
Again calling our University mediocre. And not seeing our constant progress. His envy of UT and ATM keeps rearing its ugly head.

I blocked that fool, along with a few others, literally years ago but I still can’t avoid his trolling.
This forum has deteriorated in quality over the years.
Still, there are a few posters who consistently post quality content.
Reading threads on coogfans is like eating watermelon. You have to continuously spit out the seeds.

Good post. My situation is similar. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given as a result of my education at UH. And I’ve attended every football game since my graduation in 1986, along with my kids and now my grandkids and friends. We have a big bunch that attend together and we love it. I still love the university and the athletic teams despite not living on campus
