You really need to give it a rest. No one on here wants status quo, they just get tired of your continued disdain and mischaracterization of nontraditional students. It seems like that is all you’re ever talking about.

Great post. Similar situation for me. Both my kids were traditional students.
Also graduated in 86…similar situation.
Is it possible for mods to transfer all the comments and ongoing convo regarding traditional and non traditional students to another thread. Ill take the arguments over expanding and not expanding and the bait comments over how had our fanbase is over this off the rails discussion about types of students. Lets get back on track

My wife went to Aldine Macarthur and the majority of her friends attended college. Literally none of her friends live in Aldine anymore. They all live in Spring, Woodlands, Humble, or New Caney. We initially lived in Porter but 3 years ago we built a house in Shepherd by Cleveland and I said forget the suburbs.
For a few years I lived off Airline and E Mount Houston in a trailer park while we bought land and built our house in Shepherd. I could attend more UH games when we lived off Airline and I was close to everything. I miss the posadas during December and really just being close to a lot of restaurants and attractions. We had our daughter and for us a trailer park and gun shots wasn’t cutting it as she was about to start school. My wife grew up without internet and hot water in same trailer park off Airline. The only white people I saw off Airline area during 2019-2022 honestly were homeless. I spoke a decent amount of Spanish and respected the culture I was around and married into. I actually preferred to save money and live there than 3 acres and a house.
I was born in Spring in 89 and we moved immediately to Tomball until 2001 when it grew so much, my family moved to Ganado.
We moved when I was a kid for better schools to Tomball then a smaller town to Ganado.

When i was going to UH, lived in the Airline West road area. Drove up and down Airline quite a bit. When I had a bit of money to spend would get some tacos or quesadillas at Arandas. Those were the days.

But the real question is where would it point? Where is the shaft headed to penetrate? A future football opponent? UT? What can be done to the stadium to highlight those traditions?

A few weeks ago I was looking as if we could fit a soccer field into TDECU. Unfortunately that is not the case for an MLS, USL or international game. It would be passable for high school but surely not ideal.
The following is a quick take off if it could work.
Now compare it to Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid home stadium:
Currently our field footprint is not suitable. We would have to take out some seats and look at each field corner areas. The question has to be asked as to why a soccer field was not taken into consideration.
Was it cost? Design cost maybe? Construction cost? I have no idea and it would be speculative on my part.
Keep in mind that we got an amazing deal on our stadium. Speak about doing more with less TDECU would be it.
Not having the chance to hold soccer games is unfortunate for the following reasons.
TDECU could be a perfect soccer atmosphere stadium. Given the right field dimension it could actually be the best MLS soccer stadium if the Dynamos would play there.
I can only imagine the entire stadium fans jumping up and down. What a noise and sight it would be. Again I can’t think of one MLS stadium that would look close to TDECU with the right field dimension.
I love natural grass and thinking the stadium could be expanded up to 60k’s…

hard to complain about tdecu stadium but not configuring it to be able to handle MLS soccer was a big mistake given that soccer was on the come for the usa and especially Houston for a long time.

My parents live in East Aldine right now, and I grew up there (I’m Mexican American)
The area is changing so much, and crime has gone down compared to the 2000s.
That place is going to get gentrified in the next 10-20 years I think, but luckily I’m inheriting my parents house lol

The thing about soccer is that it has been “on the rise” for like 30 years. And yet, the Dynamo have had mostly declining attendance since 2012 and their attendance is last in the league.
Soccer doesn’t need another venue in Houston, especially at the expense of football seats in our stadium.
