TDECU Stadium Upcoming Renovations - Premium Seating Buildout

…as long as they can take that profit and “finish” the other part of the stadium little by little.

I think we can all agree they built what they had the money for at hat time but the stadium was far from finished when it opened,

The press box is where the announcers and TV crew set up.

If the press box goes to the other side of the stadium, we would have the flip the midfield logo and re-wire everything to spec which can be a tough project.

I had no idea that there was that much of an increase in the waitlist for luxury suites. This is truly impressive and squashes UH haters regarding UH fans as being non-existent and cheap. I’ve heard that those suites are $50K a pop.

Split it among 10 people and it’s more accessible for $5k per person.
I’ve been in the suites before and that is how most people have access.

I can confirm - was in Paris and London for the last two weeks. They have minimal modern skylines because the cities are only 2000+ yrs old. ha

I don’t know where you are getting that info, but here is the original expansion plan for 60K seats.
60K Expansion Plan1.pdf (224.9 KB)

OK, I don’t know how to be able to show that pdf as a jpeg photo.

I don’t understand why people are arguing the merits of skylines that aren’t visible from the stadium.

Keeping “the notch” open for a view of downtown shouldn’t be a deal-killer, but downtown is part of what we’re selling when we recruit students and athletes, and having it visible from the stadium was a nice feature that kind of differentiated us a bit. I wouldn’t be in a rush to fill that spot with seats to make the stadium look like every other bowl, though.

Atmosphere vs revenue is what the whole skyline view boils down to me. It would be nice to have a skyline view to show recruits as a reminder that they would be playing in the 4th largest city in the country, but I’m not sure that resonates with recruits. More than coaching staff? More than facilities? More than winning program? More than putting players in the league? More than NIL? More than an education?

Give me revenue. Additional revenue can keep UH current with its facilities, creating a competitive atmosphere with the competition.

Besides, when your on the field, you are too low and can’t even see downtown if you are a player.

It also made sense when we had the skyline in the end zones. Really, only the high dollar luxury suite guys could see it.

Where was the first skyscraper built?

If that’s what you want to call it, but we need our stadium to be a money-making machine. For the first time in our history we have an opportunity to realize this as a program.

You need to cater to the people that pay the freight. Big donors are often the difference between the the big time teams and the lower half.

Amen — go for the EZ suite money first.

Big donors might pay the bills but it is the 80% rest of the fans that have season tickets in the regular seating that Pez said only losing 300 seats who ultimately fill the stadium. A majority of the season tickets of the 25,000 sold are not premium. I understand premium seats and those donors bring in the big money but it is the regual fan that sits out in the sun and heat in August the heart of the fan base. All I hear from Pez alot is premium, premium, premiums seats. He at times get to over fixated on big donors and forgets the average fan. Like building out the home third deck side shell space in TDECU with restrooms and concessions. If not adding escalaters then finding a way to add another elevator that too all level home side that has easy access for the older fans or ones with injuries who cant afford seats first level. I still dont understand how hard it is and it not that big creative thinker to put a ring of honor along the concrete facades of the third decks in between the stair cases with names and numbers UH greats. It is not enough with our legacy the only place see UH Football names is on some chizzeled art work boards on outside of the stadium.

Chicago?! I would have sworn it was Lake Charles.

Man, aren’t we cashing that Big 12 money before we’ve received the first check? Seems crazy to me.
