Texans can't do wrong right

Lovie Smith, in my view, was a qualified candidate based upon his Super Bowl, and was hired on that basis, though as I said, his most recent gig at Illinois did not impress. Race had nothing to do with that, in my view.

That said, he should have gotten more than one year. Every new coach should get ONE “freebie” sucky season.

He won a Super Bowl 16 years ago…There is a reason he hasn’t been a head coach in years…like I said…The Texans were not going to hire him

David Culley and Lovie Smith were put in no-win situations as head coach of the Texans. As NFL lifers, they knew that going in. I would be curious to find out when they interviewed, how long Nick Caserio told them they would have to rebuild.

Caserio has hired two head coaches for the Texans. Each has lasted exactly one year. With that track record, what quality candidate is going to throw is name into the mix?

No matter who is head coach, the Texans do not have enough talent on its roster to compete. Smart coaches know that and are probably wondering “If I accept this job, will I be the next one to get the ax after one year?”

Texans #1 ?

I think that the answer is yes simply because they could get enough out of this draft to take a major step forward, talent wise.

He didn’t win, he lost the super bowl to Payton Manning and it wasn’t even really a close game.

No smart coaches are going to realize they are better coaches then the last 2 and that the last 2 were only hired to fill the gap until the smart coach was available.

With Rex Grossman as his QB. In the rain.

And Trent Dilfer actually won a superbowl. I dare you to name one pundit who would claim he was an elite QB. Just because you got lucky 16 years ago doesn’t mean squat. Smith’s overall tenure proves that season was a fluke and that in all actuality he just really isn’t that good of a coach.

Saw a mock draft just now that shows the Colts trading up to take Bryce Young with the 1st pick. What a colossal mistake that one game could be for the next decade.

They also had the Texans taking Levis at 2 so not sure how much faith to put in their opinion.

I wouldn’t put much stock in the Colts taking Young. They have measurables they look for and the minimum for a QB is 6’1 215 lbs and Young isn’t close to that so it would make more sense for them to take Stroud.
