Super bowl or no, I still want Bill Obrien gone!
" Saturday’s whirlwind of transactions provided the first real test for Houston’s new-look, no-G.M. front office. The grade for the “flatter” management structure: A big, fat F.
Through not just one but two disastrous trades, the Texans not only botched their divorce from Jadeveon Clowney but also authored a mini-Herschel Walker fiasco that mortgages the future and complicates the process of hiring any G.M. who has real options in 2020."
WTF
Wow. Just wow! Texans outdid themselves this time. When do we realize the Texans are an embarrassment to the Texan name and start the “I am not a mascot” protests?
We can hope

3 pro bowls tells me he wasn’t a bust. He’s also been healthy the last 3 years.
So the Texans gave him away AND paid 1/2 of his salary?
…or the Bills in 1992, or the Broncos in 1991, or the Bengals in 1990, or the Steelers in 1989…
One or all of those teams could’ve won the whole thing.
91,92,and 93 were all good enough to win the whole thing, but they always choked when it mattered. That stink just hangs over the heads of all Houston NFL fans.
Its sad that people are turning 40 this year and have never seen a Houston team play for a conference championship.
He wasn’t a bust but he wasn’t great either. I get your point, at the very minimum he has contribute solid even for 1st pick overall. Bad thing is that those type of players are expected to dominate.
Tough loss.
Watson was great tonight running/passing despite taking a beating from 6 sacks & a banged up back after that TD run.
1992 sshould’ve been the year. 1991, never use the prevent defense against an Elway type of fellow. 1990, we didn’t even come to that sticking game prepared in that 41 - 14 blowout. 1994, couldn’t beat an old Joe Montana in KC at home in the playoffs…man, some unfortunate years…
Super Bowls appearance since 2004:
Patriots 8
Seahawks 3
Steelers 3
Broncos 2
Giants 2
Colts 2
Eagles 2
Saints 1
Bears 1
Panthers 1
Cardinals 1
Packers 1
Ravens 1
49ers 1
Falcons 1
Rams 1
This is just from the past 15 years.
Is it a coincidence that the Patriots have gone to eight Super Bowls?
Is it a coincidence that the Seahawks make these trades?
The best NFL franchises have a combination of great Coaches working in unison with their front office. The Broncos are going to be interesting to follow sine Bowlen’s passing.
It is clear without a doubt that many franchises are there to collect media money without any thoughts or regards for their fans.
Texans?
They draft Carr. How many sacks did he have to endure?
They draft Watson. Already one major injury. How many sacks last evening?
You trade Clowney?
You keep that Coach?
You do not have a G.M.?
Unfortunately this is the norm of professional sports owners. Kraft in many ways reminds me of what DeBartollo JR did for the 49ers. Yes he too won five Super Bowls in 15 years.
Ut was never really in that game.
Some footnotes - 1990 Moon broke his thumb the second to last game and Commander Cody came through in the clutch last game vs Steelers to get us into the postseason. Then I think that whole ‘dome team playing in frigid cold’ did us in at Riverfront with our backup QB. ***That following week a Bengals DB ended Bo Jackson’s career. Oilers winning would’ve changed history;)
Also that Montana loss in Jan 1994 was terrible, but even more craven was Buddy punching Gilbride on the sidelines.
Sorry to rehash. I’m just a big Oilers nerd from those years. I saved all the Chronicle and Post front pages and game recaps every Monday. Best pro football era ever
You too, lol. I still have sport pages from that era in my garage from Oilers, SWC, Rockets Championship days…the infamous 35 - 3 game…lol.
They didn’t give him away, they paid the Seahawks to take him. STUPID!
The only Oilers game I made it to as a kid was the punch game. My only real memory of the game is guys near us wearing paper bags and our section chanting for different QB’s
