The article says Perrin wouldn’t be surprised if the Big 12 expands in the future. We all know what to do when UT says anything about expansion. Ignore it like it was written by Salon.com.

Give it up guys. If they are dangling that raw meat then they are up to something. And I say, IF. There isn’t enough integrity in the whole lot of them to blow out a candle in a wind storm. UH needs to just keep building all its programs and we will take care of our future when the next round of realignment comes - and that will be in about 3 years, or when ESPN runs out of loot. Maybe someone in the Big 12 is trying to hedge their bets, but I for one don’t give a rat’s ass.

3 years sounds about right as that’s when OU and UT are rumored to be leaving it. Have to get some schools to replace them.

Maybe Perrin thinks the ACC network will change the landscape and make the Pac 12 more pliable.
Florida State’s AD thinks the ACC network will be worth $8M+ more per year to each school in that league:

If UT and OU don’t end up in the B1G, I can see them going to the PAC.
Unfortunately, I don’t see UH going along for the ride in either scenario. What I can see happening is UH and others filling the gap for those schools that leave the Big XII.
To that end (if it goes that way), I can UH, BYU, CSU, Cincy and possibly a couple others becoming members of the new Big XII.
Until then, let’s win the AAC and win our way into the next realignment with a two edge approach - winning and top notch facilities.

I disagree. I think we would be a great addition to the PAC with our strong football program, great academics and full complement of championship caliber athletics programs. Now throw in our viewership and I think that we’re a slam dunk to end up in the PAC or the ACC.
i dont think PAC has the money to attract whorn and okie…BIG is much more lucrative, and we likely WILL end up in PAC if BIG expands…Texas cant GO to 2 conferences at the same time. We will go where they ARENT…Also a strong possibility Texas could end up in ACC, if ESPN wants to keep them…i do not think Big 12 is going to survive whats coming…
If BIG and PAC expand, you are talking about at least 6 schools, and more likely 8 schools, …
Fireman, you seem to think of the situation as an “either or” situation…i believe it is much more likely that both leagues expand…they likely work together to come up with best scenario…their tv deals expire within 12 months of each other…no coincidence…
IF WE EVER DO GET INTO A P-5 CONFERENCE - and that is a very big “if,” it won’t be worth what it is now - because of all the cable cutting. As Coach Yeoman said, “it is hard being a Cougar.” The more things change, the more they remain the same!
It’ll be more worth it than not getting in.
Big12 is a dead conference walking. OU and UT know it and want it to happen. The Big12 expansion ship sailed last year and it’s over. IF we did get in it would be the Big East all over again, as soon as we get in, it would only mean others are out the door.

I really hope our administration is done with this stuff. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. We need to focus on how to make our current conference the best it can be and how to make our school the best in the conference. If other conferences look to expansion, let them woo us. No more begging for handouts. The biggest step to moving up is showing they need us more than we need them.
