Based on the amount of Tech fans that hit the board the last two weeks we’re clearly theirs.

yes

This should be a little extra motivation for the Coogs. They will play great.

There are a few factors to consider.

  1. The Coogs looked a bit rusty coming off the bye. ITTech may also.

  2. If the game is close, it will be their first gut check time. Coogs have already worked through that.

  3. Home field is huge in big games.

Snoop Coog is wrong about SWC Titles.

Tech was Co-Champ, with UH, in 1976.

They have no other SWC Titles.

They were also part of a 5-way tie in 1994 that included everyone who was eligible except for UH and SMU. (A&M had the best conference record that year, but was ineligible.)

The 5 way tie in 1994 was for second place.

A&M was the 1994 SWC Champ.

The Aggies were on probation, so the second place team got The Cotton Bowl spot.

Same thing happened in 1981. SMU won The SWC, but were on Probation. Second place UT went to Cotton Bowl.

UH went to Cotton Bowl in 1976 and beat Tech, so wouldn’t that make Cougars the conference champs that year?

They already had a gut check in Salt Lake City. 13-10 with 11 minutes to go, responded by scoring 21 unanswered. Their DL dominated an Utah OL that has 2 expected first round draft picks. Wood has created an elite defense just like he did last year and it will be almost impossible to run on their front 7

I think the final score of TTU vs Utah doesn’t really reflect how the game actually went.

It wasn’t so much TTU “dominating” Utah.

It was more of Utah just collapsing in the final 10 minutes. Missed tackles, missed opportunities, etc.

That said, agreed - our passing game needs to be on point, and Weigman will need to get rid of the ball quickly (essentially what he’s been doing all season).

You can look at it that way, but penalties really kept Utah in the game. And the backup QB was super-effective after the starter got hurt. Kind of a weird game.

Big key here is getting Connor settled in early delivering good balls. I’ve noticed before he gets settled he sails the passes a bit. Those will be picks Saturday. Get him in rhythm early.

It’s more fair to say the Tech defense dominated that game. Utes made it to the red zone 1 time and had 260 yards of offense. Penalties and an end zone INT by Utah kept that game close. Should have gotten out of hand a lot sooner

UH and Texas Tech tied for the SWC Championship in 1976. The tie breaker was UH went to Lubbock and beat Texas Tech on a cold, windy day, 27-19, November 20, 1976. It was a happy Thanksgiving for UH fans. UH represented the SWC well, by beating Maryland in the 1977 Cotton Bowl, 34-21.

So when we win, it’ll count as a road win.

Maryland was undefeated until we spanked them. The game wasn’t really close. Terps scored late to make look more respectable than it actually was.

Ah, gut check is not leading by 3 with 11 minutes to go…
