Got to make those connections.
fta “There aren’t any major cons for the University of Houston.” This pretty much says it all.
This is my favorite thread.
At least until the “PAC Accepts Houston As New Member” thread appears.
Here’s why the two were together today:
“The rich will get richer, and the others will die,” E. Gordon Gee, president of West Virginia University, said Monday. “We need to come together rather than engage in hand-to-hand combat.”
Regionalization would also reduce the amount of time student-athletes spend on the road in competition and allow them to better enjoy the college experience, Khator said.
“This takes a toll on a student-athlete’s time demands,” Khator said. “What comes first — academics or athletics?”
I think about the Larry Scott picture together. Was this a message, coincidence or just good pr? We all have views on this. I just think that Mrs. Khator is showing everyone that she is focused on getting us back into a P5. It sends a clear message to you know who.
We saw plenty of pictures of our great president with Big 12 hot shots a year ago…and how did that work out?
Yes, I would take a PAC invite all day long, but at this point I just don’t think it will happen. But if it does I will happily eat crow…
Why the negativity Butch? We gotta aim for the highest level possible. The investments that we made and are making are for greater pastures. Gotta keep the faith. Dream and visualize. It will happen one way or the other. UH is surrounded by every aspects that will make us a great success in any P5.
I will believe it when i see it. Until then its all hogwash.
Welp, the conference realignment talk came a few months early this year. It is officially the off-season.
About being a commute school, we need to spread the fact that UH has #2 students living on campus in the state of Texas behind Texas A&M. I thought we have 2nd largest alumni in Texas Legislature. We need to straighten out the facts for all the myths out there about our university. By the way, I love UH being in PAC16.
I believe that Pac 16 blog is run by a Tech alum. I wouldn’t take it too seriously.
In any case, the Pac12 took Utah which is more of a commuter school than UH is. Having a large commuter population isn’t going to hurt us if the Pac12 expands.
I’ve seen the hair trigger reaction by my fellow Coogs when the pic of Scott and Khator showed up on twitter. Probably nothing more than just a pic, but we’re so desperate (understandably) to get into a P5 conference, there’s some overreaction.
Nothing will happen for a few years, but glad to see Khator campaigning. Truly appreciative.
There is another perspective. Both the big 12 and UT operate out of narrow self-interest. Nothing will generate interest in UH faster than another conference showing strong and sincere interest in having us join their membership. Now, I’m not making too much out of Khator’s photo. In and of itself it is just a picture. But coupled with future meetings and talks with the PAC 12 and this could get interesting. And given that we have at least 2 to 3 years minimum to work with there will be plenty of opportunities to explore different options. In the meanwhile UH has to keep winning and keep raising its national profile.
Would be neat to be a part of PAC 12 East. I think we’d fit in well. Good market, good academics, good all-sports programs. The PAC 12 is still a little gun-shy about expansion though.
haha im happy to see houston fans blow up the blogs comment section.

It is some years away, but i think it is definitely coming, and i think all Houston fans love the idea of being in a great conference like the PAC 12.
We are not going to any p5 conferences. We should focus on being best G5 program in country.
The reality is, being the best G5 program is the most effective route to P5.
Agreed. And it is still possible to make some noise for the National Championship as the best G5 school if the stars align with quality wins vs. P5, strong conference and a little bit of luck.
Our ex-coach had a clear path to the Playoffs last year but pissed it away for personal gain…biggest indictment of that guy as a fraud. He’ll be lucky to get that close again, even at that school in Austin. (but I digress from the point of the post)
