Let them think we’re still in Conference USA

this one doesnt even make sense… we lose Jwan and LJ from the starters…And franics/ mylik from the reserves… thats “5th/6th year guys” (francis is only a 4th year guy)… we could return everyone else…

we have the #2 recruiting class in the nation, redshirting 2 4stars &a 5th year senior…assuming no one goes pro we wont even go portal as we are out of spots… we’ll be a preseason top 3 team most likley if we get good nba draft news

starting line up (only losing the senior)

  • Milos - will be seen as all-American next year
  • Sharp - will be debated as all-american next year
  • Arc (RS Jr) or Harwell (5star guard) - whoever starts will be all league
  • Chris Cenac (top 6 5star, projected lottery pick)
  • JoJo - will be the favorite for national Dpoy next year (if he doesnt win it this year- finalist below)

Bench

  • Arc (RS Jr) or Harwell (5star guard)
  • Kingston Fleming (5star Guard)
  • Mercy Miller (barely used freshmen this year, was a top 50 recruit)
  • Jacob Mcfarland (redshirting top 100 4star)
  • Chase MCcarty (redshirting top 100 4star)
  • Ramon Walker, Jr (medical redshirting 5th year senior)

if we lose jojo or milos to pro ball… we have guys lineup

Sounds painful, hope he gets that resolved before next year.

I don’t get the hate for Sampson from Purdue. His “cheating” (which is all completely legal now) took place at Indiana. What does that have to do with Purdue?

Yeah, we’ll be fine next year. We also always seem to get one or two good portal grab to fill in any gaps

I imagine it just has to do with the fact that he coached at Indiana. Probably the same way we would view an ex-Texas coach

Sampson was the head coach of Indiana when NCAA leveled the show cause penalty against Sampson. What state is Purdue located in?

If that ex-Texas coach got caught cheating and the school got in trouble, I would laugh and laugh. Not be mad.

Top to bottom… we will have the most talented UH roster ever. Everyone is either 5 or high 4-star player. And we potentially have Koa or Dedan to fill any gaps that develop it appears.

I mean, sure, but you probably still wouldn’t like the guy

So if some ish went down at UT, Tech or any other in-state rival are you going to be mad on their behalf just because we’re all in Texas?

Purdue hates everything about Indiana, and despite having a winning record vs IU, Purdue doesn’t have any hoops national championships, so IU’s 5 constantly kicks them in the nuts. IU has a bunch more NCAA championships across the board, so there’s some “little brother syndrome” going on, too.

It’s a huge rivalry deal.

I don’t get the schedule comments either. They must think we’re still in AAC or CUSA.

We’ve played more Q1 games (UH 18 and 15-3. Purdue 17 and 7-10).

We’ve also played more games vs NET top 10 (UH 6 and 3-3. Purdue 3 and 1-2)

As mentioned by a couple of others, it’s just because he was the coach at IU. We still make fun of Tom Crean and Archie Miller, and we still talk about how much of an a**hat Bob Knight was. Purdue fans hate everything IU. IU fans hate everything Purdue. There can be respect earned by certain individuals (for the most part Purdue fans respect Knight as a coach, and IU fans respect Keady and Painter as coaches), but we’ll never actually like each other.

Personally, I don’t care about his time at IU. I think Sampson is a good coach, and I’m glad IU got rid of him. He was the best coaching hire they’ve made post-Knight. IU might be nationally relevant had he stayed.

Edit: Unlike most states which favor football, basketball is the most popular sport in Indiana. It’s hard to put into words the level of hate. Think Auburn-Alabama football or Duke-UNC basketball. It’s that level.

Great writeup as usual, Pesik.

Don’t beat yourself up too hard about the Miami game-- Pack had the single best game of his career that he never replicated in the 2 seasons since and I don’t think anybody knew just how good Omier was. Just one of those extreme outlier games.

I know games aren’t played on paper, but if they were, I feel like UH wins this matchup 99 times out of 100. It’s almost as if we constructed our team to specifically beat Purdue. Bad rebounders, undersized, only 3 competent offensive players, not particularly physical or good defensively.

Only way we lose would be due to outliers you can’t really account for/worry about-- extremely anti-UH ref ball (particularly Uzan getting into foul trouble), injuries, and/or an extreme off night from us combined with an extreme on night for Purdue. I feel infinitely better about this matchup than Gonzaga.

If you’re getting these comments from the Rivals.com free board, please know that place is a cesspool. It’s a high concentration of idiots who rarely produce anything worth reading. On3 is a better representation, though that’s a paywalled site. It’s not perfect, but it’s better.

Every fan base has some cesspool in it so that shouldn’t shock anyone.
