Another tidbit: The Coogs have not lost a following Monday game after a Saturday game beating Baylor, Kansas, Tech!
That guy is delusional, lol. Real Florida basketball fans know how good Houston is and know Monday is going to be a war. Best of luck, I wonāt even be mad if Houston wins because if thereās one program that deserves a title itās you all and I would be happy for you all and Sampson.
Great write up. The assists stat is fascinating to me.
With our S&C program Iām not worried about our players being gassed one bitā¦
I mean, Kevin Ollie did it for UConn, just off the top of my head.
Steve Fisher @ Michigan when he took over for Bill Frieder.
From an outside observer it seems kind of āsimpleā to me.

Take good shots. Bad shots end up as long rebounds, which can easily be turned into transition opps the other way. Florida thrives on pace so limiting them is vital as Houston (typically) doesnāt turn the ball over.
-
Stay out of foul trouble. Both teams need their best players on the floor for the minutes they can plan. Neither want that artificially influenced by foul trouble.
-
Be smart with the high doubles/traps. Iām not a fan of Houston doing this at all against good teams, with good and experienced guards, and think they could give Florida a lot of easy points from ensuing scrambles/breakdowns.

Make FTs (no duh).

Focus on Clayton early and try to prevent him from establishing a rhythm. Heās an elite guard and has an ability to hit complete BS shots, bad shots he had no business taking, when heās hot. Tech actually guarded him very well and he still hit two of those BS, awful shots down the stretch, which propelled Florida to victory.
Houston is the better half court team. If they are able to keep it a half court batter for large stretches of the game (ala Duke and the rest of the tourney), they probably win. Houston just needs to do itās thingā¦rebound, not turn the ball over, make some threes, and play stellar defense. Do those things and keep Clayton in check (tough task)? They are National Champs.
Good luck tonight. All of the Big 12 and a large chunk of the country will be pulling for you.
And Clayton hit some straight up bad shots. I mean, the guy shows he can make them but that one 3, where they were down 2 (I think), while being double teamed was one of the worst shots taken in the ENTIRE tournament. He chucked that up within seconds of Florida establishing the ball in the half court, fading away, with two guys in his face. It doesnāt get much more low percentage than that but he makes it.
Techās biggest blunder were the FTs and a few of those loose balls. But those things seem to happen when teams win/lose those kinds of games.
I get 2023 Miami vibes from Florida.
high pace, hot shooters and very streaky
I do, too, but the difference is that this isnāt the 2023 Coogs.
Would Duke have beaten Florida outright?
Yes
That UH team was short and not as long.
thats what she said!
doubt this team will rollover if florida gets hot from 3 like miami did though lol
