Listened to Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox this morning, what a bunch of cry baby losers. They were complaining about how the final isn’t worth watching because Duke isn’t in it anymore and it will be bad for Television ratings. Then they said they couldn’t believe Florida wasn’t favored by 6-8 points.
the team always does better when doubted compared than being expected to win for some reason so fine by me lol
I wish I could clip the radio segment and send it to Sampson as motivation.
We match up better against Florida. Also, for the past several weekends, we’ve played much better the 2nd game of the weekend as opposed to the first game.
I really hate how those guys look at betting lines. We don’t show up well in the betting line at this level. Vegas knows full well that they’re setting lines in order to make the most money, and people make bets on these games based on emotion. Bigger groups of emotional people with money they’re willing to throw away are better targets for Vegas to lure with line setting. Our bandwagon isn’t as big, so that effect doesn’t show up as much on our side. The talking heads should know better but they talk like betting lines are 100% sports facts.
Who are they?
An early morning show on Fox Sports radio 610.
Sharp played really bad in the end… 30secs a chance to go up 3 or 4 and he gets strip and called out of bounds
KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, EMANUEL!
You made us proud. And look forward to you continuing your journey next season.
So true. It was a terrific season and Sharp was a huge catalyst in making it possible.
Let’s get 'em next year!
Bad is not the word I would use but to each is own.
Bad is perhaps an understatement. 20 seconds and no shot attempt is inconceivable.
I hate to be a downer but what an incredible opportunity blown tonight. This team will look much different next season. We all know how hard it is to get to this game. To be winning for the majority of the game only to lose it is brutal. I don’t think CKS will have another opportunity quite like that one.
HEARTBROKEN
There is no other way to put it. Our tears/my tears just exemplifies how much I am proud of our players and coaching staff. A few main points that I did not expect.
1.
We were up by three at half time but really we should have been up by at least 10. We missed way too many shots. Shots that we made all season long, just not tonight.
2.
Our bigs getting called for fouls so early in the second half made a huge impact IMO. It screwed J’Wan rhythm. He was not himself tonight. The refs did not officiate the bigs the same way in the first half. This was a turning point for me.
3.
We were up by 12 but I never got the feeling we were going to put the final dagger to them. We never went into “our style of play” Credit to Florida and their HC for making major adjustments after every time out.
4.
Why did we play up-tempo in second half? Even the announcers made a point that it favored Florida. That to me was a major head scratcher.
5.
Stats do not lie:
That is 8/33. Yes their defense made some stops but our guys are much better than that.
I do believe that we would beat Florida 8 out of ten times. It is oh so hard to beat teams after such a huge emotional Duke game. Did this final come too quick? I am afraid it did. Typically we had someone step up all season long. It did not happen tonight. Despite all of that we only lost by two points and with 19 seconds or so to at least tie it.
This game is so frustrating because we lost the way we did. We all know how much better than we really are vs tonight. The announcer mentioned CKS questioning a few players in the second half. It tells me “we were out of synch” For whatever reasons it was I can only come back to our bigs being called early in the second half.
Now one clear part that the refs did not sufficiently address IMO are the flagrant fouls that Florida committed. Mind you we did get some technical fouls. Did you all notice how Florida started playing “dirty basketball”? This was clearly intentional and designed to take us out of our game. This might be a lesson that we need to take into next season. Some teams are great at it and some never do it.
I can’t wait for our new recruits to contribute. Thank you to our seniors:
Mr. J’wan Roberts
Mr. LJ Cryer
Mr. Ja’Vier Francis
and Mr. Ramon Walker
Forever part of our hearts.
GO COOGS.
Great post, Chris.
This worries me too. You need a lot of talent and LUCK to get to the final game. I am scared that this won’t ever happen again.
Yes, there is a lot of luck involved. Let’s face it. The Duke game was a damn near miraculous win. Luck was not on their side yesterday.
LJ lost the ball in the crowd and turned it over as well down the stretch…
The TEAM didn’t execute at the end of the game not just $harp.
