Imagine Ward running the veer…
I picked “Other” b/c was looking for “yay no more polls!” choice.
You can’t compare QB’s from different eras. Some could only play 3 years, some 5. A QB in the Run & Shoot would naturally have more passing stats than another in any other offense – especially the veer or single wing. But from team accomplishments with a QB leading is how I would I would rate the QB. Under that criteria, I would have to go with Danny Davis. My favorite QB’s were Davis, Keenum, and Ware in no certain order.
Freshmen became eligible to play in NCAA basketball and football on January 8, 19721. Prior to that, freshmen were not eligible for any sport until 1968, when they were allowed to compete in all sports except football and basketball. With the institution of Title IX in 1972, all freshmen became eligible for competition2.
Hard to pick, Andre was QB when I was a student, saw all his games. He played better competition in the SWC but how can you deny Case? Andre has the Heisman, Case has the records and a better NFL Career. I go with a tie.
No doubt in my mind, it’s Case. On top of that, he’s also been the most successful NFL QB, by far.
Its funny because Jamie Foxx was a decent QB at Terrell, I think he still has some of their records. They originally were going to have P.Diddy play Willie Beamen but he couldnt throw a football, so they went with an actor who actually played football.
I wonder what would happen if 2015 Ward switched places with 2011 Keenum ?
Keenum is just so prolific. Could’ve won a heisman , but a lot of that is circumstantial. Was that the Manziel, mantai Te’o year?
Also, he’s just an overall good dude. Easy to root for.
Both Case and Andre are great college QB’s, the stats and the UH leadership and continued praise for UH goes to Case, but Andre has kept his presence at UH, especially since retiring his #11, so for that and the Heisman I will give a slight edge to Andre.
Andre is an announcer and his job has brought him more in contact with UH. However, I have seen Case at our FB and BB games when his pro career allows. Both are great Coogs. But for pumping the Coogs, there’s none better than Jim Nantz.
Case all day. He was a Heisman caliber QB that was stuck playing on a CUSA team. If he’d played at Baylor under Briles instead of RG3 he’d have been in the conversation for the Heisman and imo, likely would’ve won it. Remove Case from our history and I think you can forget making the Peach Bowl in ‘15 and receiving a B12 invite.
We’re talking just as UH QB. And yea I know Case has the UH records. But hard to argue against a Heisman
No. That was 2012. Case’s best chances for the heisman were the years Mark Ingram and RG3 won. 2009 and 2011.
Greg Ward
if anyone is ahead of Ware, it’s Klingler, not Keenum.
Ward is definitely in the conversation as one of the best, but not THE best. Ward camouflaged a lot of deficiencies on the UH offense with his play.
Bingo, can’t have that list without DC.
One thing is for sure, we’ve had some really outstanding QBs at UH
I am going to mention Chuck Clements and Jason McKinley, because had they not played for an incompetent head coach, Kim “The Love Coach” Helton, who pushed his kids like a little league dad, Clements and McKinley may have been candidates for this list.
Also, surprised Clayton Tune hasn’t been at least mentioned. He improved greatly while he was at UH.
Clemens yes JMc sorry but not on this list.
