I looked at the schedule … If UH waits until the Tech game to get it’s poop in a group we could be 0-2 or 1-1 by then.

Monceaux, are you basing your comment on our OL on what our coaches had said to you or the fact that it takes a little time for a new group to come together? Or is there something else?

I would like to see something UH has never really had for as long as I remember; an OLINE that scares the hell out of people.

That is a big statement…The fact that we are starting against osu gives us no choice but to be ready especially mentally. Apart from other p4’s this is probably the toughest team to play against in an opener. They have U of H and teetech on their schedule. That is in their mind their golden opportunity that they belong in a p4. osu like wsu are still furious to be left out of a p4. We can all bet that they will be ready to smack us in the face when the game starts. We have the prefect HC and coaching staff to get us ready for this FIGHT That alone makes any team grow quickly.

They had their chance. They could have beat us at home last year, but they couldnt do it. We’ll be ready this year in our home opener, and have a little easier time this year, i think.

Losing to Southern is much, much harder than losing to NC State. If that one is remotely competitive, something has gone dramatically and unforeseeably wrong. Our second string should be able to dispatch them comfortably. Sam Houston or UTEP could probably hang a hundred on 'em if they really tried.

I am not breaking any new ground here, but wherever the OL is at the start of the season, I expect it to get better with each game. UH has some new faces on the OL, and the only way for them to gel is game play snaps. Early in the season, I expect some blown assignments. That is expected. The main issue is get experience and by all means, keep the QB clean.
UH starts the season with two home games. Oregon St., where UH is -18.5 pt. favorite, and Southern, where there no line yet, but I expect UH to be a heavy favorite. These will be good games for the OL to gain experience.
The next game almost amounts to UH’s Super Bowl early in the season, in Lubbock, against Texas Tech. A UH win against Texas Tech validates that Willie Fritz’s program has taken a major step forward, and provides notice to the rest of the conference, and nation, that UH is playing for a CFP spot.
Bringing it back to the OL, if they have gelled enough when UH plays Texas Tech, it is quite possible that UH could snap the five game losing streak against Texas Tech.

…an o-line that brings back it’s 2 best starters, and replaces the 3 it lost with 3 that are not only better than the guys they are replacing, but perhaps better than the 2 who are returning.
The “potential” of the 2026 o-line is VERY high…
