Tickets look sparse

Judging by the ticket map, the stadium should be pretty full. I was considering buying some extra tickets by me for a couple games by my season tickets and nothing was close. Excited to see if the momenetum Fritz has built holds over. I am really excited for the season.

No more losses to Rich Rod. One more season and that guy is going to be a load

They are probably holding tickets back like they always do instead of just selling them, we’ve seen this pattern play out many times

But hopefully they have been sold which bodes well for us

I bet they’re holding some back, which is a puzzling way to conduct business. Maybe someone can explain that policy. Just sell the dimn tickets. The buzz alone would sell even more tickets and you can hire more vodka lemonade vendors

Holding tickets back is common in the sports and entertainment industries.

  • Groups of tickets are held for major donors, politicians, coaches, the opposing team, etc., and released to the general public if not used.
  • Some tickets are held back for season ticket holders to purchase extra, before they go on sale to the general public.
  • Since scalping is legal in Texas, venues limit availability, to prevent professional scalpers from buying up the inventory and then reselling it to the public for inflated prices.
  • Holding back seats gives the venue the opportunity to accommodate walk-up sales.

Not all reasons advantageous to the public. Holding back tickets can create an artificial scarcity, driving up tickets prices to the general public. The industry refers to this as “dynamic pricing”. I know the Astros shifted to the dynamic pricing model years ago, and I believe UH uses dynamic pricing as well.

Thanks, that’s why I love this forum. Learn something new everyday. You can tell when whole sections of TDECU have “zero” availability that they’re holding tickets

I hope so. We have a great coach who will stay and the future looks bright. I still think we shouldn’t keep raising prices until it’s mostly full. I think a full or fuller stadium should be the goal over maximizing profits.

I agree sell all we can when we can

To the OP, please don’t be fooled. Believe me, there are tons of tix that wil be available. Remember this is the UH fan base.

Its frustrating, especially on the northside, they hold back a lot of tickets in areas where visiting fans sit because they can make more money selling each game separately to visiting fans, making it truely a special experience for people who choose to have season tickets in those sections.

Why not change seats if you know this…?

There’s no reason to sell tickets in the upper deck on the visitors’ sideline. There’s no reason to sell the upper deck on the home sideline except in the middle (because they’ll sell out, UH will open new sections within a week). They hold the sections above the students for overflow, which is obviously the correct thing to do.

The conference and out-of-conference game contracts require that a certain number of seats be reserved for visiting fans (a minimum of 2500 tickets for Big 12 games).

I would argue there’s no reason NOT to sell tix in the upper decks wherever people want to buy them…

But I now see that this is a sales strategy based on trying to sell out certain sections first and then making other sections available…

I’ve stopped getting excited about this scenario. Has happened often. And still, 20,000 Season Ticket holders! It would be awesome if the seats are actually sold.

Not EVEN talking about the upper deck. Several sections show NO availability in the lower bowl on the UH sidelines.

edit: nvrmind, just gathered them all and sent to spam folder. Thanks for your input though

Ticket discussions are mind-numbing. It’s like going to a concert and every song is “She’ll be coming round the mountain.”

But every time I say I won’t click you pull me back in.

In the past, I can’t check right now, I am on a plane, they have sold out season tickets in sections like 227-228 and 230-231 and then when single game tickets went on sell, they had plenty of seats available.

Of course they hold back the visitor sections.

I did we moved up to Queenie’s this season.
