To anyone who thinks that American football is a dying sport

TAKE THIS!!!

Apparently, people are still tuning into it in greater numbers than ever.

And as long as it leads all American sports in viewership and fan interest…IT AIN’T DYING.

There will always be people willing to play the sport and assuming the risk of injury in order to meet that fan demand.

I’ve never heard anyone say that

I wonder how much of that higher demand has to do with online/in-game prop bets.

I would love to see if there is a correlation in late child support payments increasing when in-game online betting became a big deal.

I hear people saying all the time how concussions, etc. will cause football to decline, how soccer will overtake it in popularity, etc.

HOGWASH!!!

See my initial post for more details.

American Football isn’t becoming less popular over time, or losing its lead over other team sports in the USA. Far from it!

And I can tell you this much. No other team sport will regularly get the attendance and viewership, week in and week out, year in and year out, during our lifetimes, that American football will.

I don’t think it’s a dying sport professionally, but I think there are statistics showing parents are opting out of putting their kids in tackle football due to the health risks

However, that’s not a simple statistic for different reasons, and I doubt it affects the pipeline of people that end up in the NFL

Somehow I doubt that any other team sport will ever surpass American football in viewership or attendance at the college or high school level either.

It’ll always be number one in that regard, and not just at the professional level.

I agree

That’s also because every game matters too

In baseball and basketball, there are so many games exception for playoffs and championship series’

In California, the number of high school players was trending down for a bit. I haven’t followed that story line closely but I thought I remembered that trend had stopped.

As serious of a health issue it is, CTE was very trendy topic especially before the pandemic. There was a box office movie made about it too which added to the conversation, and then all of the Aaron Hernandez stuff.

But I agree, it seems the topic itself and awareness has died down. It’s not that much different than people forgetting about Covid despite it still affecting many people

Soccer is for people that CAN’T HIT!!!

Soccer and bicycle riding cause more concussions to kids in the USA than football…

You know the money is there when a stupid owner pays $60 million/year to a QB who has never won a playoff game.

I look at American FB like the stock market it’s a Bull Market until it isn’t.

Somehow that stock market hasn’t crashed in over a century.

I’m not putting money on any such crash occurring during my lifetime!

At one time American baseball was like how we look at FB today

That was before football booted it out of the top spot.

Don’t look for the same thing to happen to football during our lifetimes.

I think with the NIL and paying college players that the NFL will grow even more.

Precisely

Yes I was going go say this. Wasn’t baseball at one time as popular as Football?

The rise of the NFL largely booted it from the top spot.

Don’t look for the same thing to happen to football.
