He tried to make Gregg ward a pocket passer which got him injured.
Yeah, trying to remember another coach who got us to a major bowl after CBY. Coming up empty.
Tom Herman is a flawed and troubled individual who had issues handling his rocket like ascension to a premier P5 job. It happens.
Credit him for giving us 15 minutes of national attention 10 years ago. Canât think of anything worth discussing on the field since then.
Au contraire, jump when the opportunity arises. Herman would not have had another shot at UT, or any other major program unless he continued doing great at UH, something that was in doubt even then.
Jump ship when you can unless you can make equivalent bank where are are.
Even if UT wasnât open, he would have bolted anyways.
LSU, UGA, South Carolina, etc had openings at the time.
I only care about people who care about UH.
He doesnât fall into that category.
Being a student at UH when herman was the coach, was pure bliss. 2015 and 2016 were some of my best memories of UH football. I have had more recentlyâŠkansas st last year, west virginia two years ago, etc. But beating Louisville with LJ at QB was fantastic, Beating Memphis by a missed field goal in 2015 was immeasurable, and beating OU, I mean speaks for itself. Dude could of had everything he wanted here, but it is what it is.
Oh yeah? Do people call where they got their masters their alma mater? I always thought it was where you get your undergraduate degree. Maybe it is both.
It depends.
I consider UH to be ONE of my alma maters, even though I went to UH for law school, not undergrad.
I spent three years going to UH full-time, living on campus, and literally calling UH my home, plus, given my Dadâs connections, Iâve been going to UH games since 1977.
Definitely my #1 sports school in that sense of being an âalma mater.â
Dude
2015/2016 was peak UH man⊠I am so lucky to have been a student at the time. Sig Chi/Bayou Oaks was a party every weekend
Iâm honestly not sure that wasnât going to happen with Levine. Hermanâs teams laid some absolute eggs just the same as Levineâs teams.
Strictly speaking, an Alma Mater is any school that you attended, including K-12. Itâs not particularly rare for folks who got a graduate degree at a larger school to primarily root for their graduate school, especially if their undergrad doesnât play high-level sports.
I hope Fritz is successful here because if he some how fails weâll be hearing stories about him, too! Funny part is that TH actually won here but Houston was just a stepping stone job for him at the end.
With nil, big 12 and transfer portal a lot of that gets negated how coaches look at UH now. Perception of the school has change a bit.
It seemed like Herman didnât do his really crazy stuff until after he left UH. No doubt he raised the profile nationally of the program. UH, along with BYU, was one of the leading candidates for B12 expansion. Ultimately that was a sham but boy, summer of 2016 I was riding high as a UH fan, then the OU victoryâŠoh boy!
He way overplayed his hand and wasted opportunity. If he had focused in 2016, we should have been the first G5 in the playoff, if we had been undefeated after a dominant win over #5 Louisville, after the OU win. Then the way he exited the program, unforgivable.
It was a slow train of disaster from then on.
If there was ever a poster child for karma being a mâfer, itâs Tom Herman
That blowout loss to SMU in 2016 after Herman talked crap about them in the off season. Gotta back up the sht talking.
His style of play at the time made sense. But in hindsight, i donât want my QB being my leading rusher & taking big hits consistently. (Which Greg Ward, Sam Ehlinger did).
I have no doubt he wouldve been fired here after 4 or 5 seasonsâŠ
For his record or off field stuff?
Likely both.
Agree to some extent. Trust me I have jumped more times than MJ. But I think in CTHâs case I am pretty sure UH would have made him a competitive offer. So he could have made just as much money at UH as he did at UT.
