I have a feeling UH will have a number of players, especially on offense, hit the transfer portal. I hope the coaching staff is working overtime to retain UH players and stay on top of who is available in the portal.

Its already started. Teagan Wilk hit the portal. He was a grad transfer from ECU, he only saw the field against Rice.

Exactly what I thought.
Hitting the portal prematurely might not be as clear cut as kids think, especially for offensive players. Personally I don’t think many defensive guys will leave. We don’t have an OC. If I am an offensive guy I am not going anywhere until I know who the OC is…

CWF will make the OC decision quickly. I think he has some PTSD from last summer, rushing to assemble a team when he was brought on so late. The sooner we can hire an OC, the easier it will be to retain the guys we want and pull in guys from the portal.

UH may be able to salvage some of the offensive players considering the TP if they can hire an OC that has a good reputation and whose system puts players in the league. I think there are some candidates out there that would at least make players think twice about transferring.
If we are lucky the guys that want to leave will wait and maybe change their minds.
Fritz will continue to overhaul the roster. We won’t portal as much as last year but players will leave, some will be encouraged.
Well he only played once. Can’t blame him for wanting to look for another team where he could potentially see more playing time. Even if it’s a lower g5 school (which he has to know).

That’s not the issue, it’s who is coming in. Changing offensive caches will help but there is nothing saying to offensive skillz players to look at UH, especially in the NIL era; coogs could lose out on some that were thinking about the coogs last year with a new coach having seen the first year.
Which offensive players are we worried about?
And there’s nothing to say they wont, either! Why dont you let CWF get his guys before you complain about it. He already has a real good recruiting class coming in. no reason to think he wont have a good class of transfers to go along with them.

Probably best to let players or the team make a public statement. Some players may still be deciding.

And we’re gonna have to make it rain 
on AJ Haulcy to not trasnfer, if he decides to come back his Senior year & doesn’t enter the NFL Draft early.

Why would Haulcy not go to the draft? He has clearly shown that he ready for the next level. I’m confident that he will not return to college next season.

We can NOT lose any decent o linemen. Losing a guy like Pancake Hunter would be devastating imo. I’m interested in seeing the progression of guys like Cayden Bowie, Ronnell McClain, Derek Joiner, & Ray’Quan Bell. Also, I think we should keep Zeon and move him to H-Back/WR. He could be for us what Braxton Miller was for Ohio State in his final season. Ra’Shaun Sanford is a PRIORITY! That kid is going to be special.
