Gotta love it. āHe wasnāt that good for us at Riceā but they threw it to him out of the backfield like 100 times in 12 games. If you target a guy that much and heās not good then what does that say about your own team.
I love the addition. I donāt think Houston needs him in order for us to be good but if he can cause match up problems for linebackers catching passes out of the backfield and doing little things like motioning out of the backfield before the snap then itās another weapon for the opposing defense to be worried about if nothing more.
Iāll also say our running back group is incredibly talented but was also incredibly young and for the most part inexperienced still until this addition. This guy gives us an immediate veteran presence in that room and will help the young guys reach their potentional
Connors had great speed when he was given some space to run with the ball. But despite an OL that featured a starter who transferred to Ohio State and one who transferred to North Carolina, their line didnāt create many openings in the run game. A better OL will help his run game.
Heās a solid receiver - I think he may have led the country in receptions by a RB this past year? Or maybe he was leading in that stat at the end of the regular season.
Heās also a former JUCO guy who got some extra years due to that NCAA ruling. Or maybe just one more year.
