Transfers and JUCO fall 2024!

Blinn was a much better team than San Jac. I was surprised that San Jac won a game in the series.

How is San Jac trending? My nephew will play infield for them next year.

only thing that will cause buzz is Sean Allen walking through that door

I am not sure. I dont have enough information about who they are bringing in.

Would it?

UH Team ERA: 5.59 Team WHIP: 1.58 - HORRIBLE

Ohio State Team ERA: 6.35 Team WHIP: 1.64 - EVEN WORSE (in a lesser league)

Common man really?

That’s about as weak as it gets.

I’m not even going to get into why that’s so far off it’s not even apples to oranges.

If you don’t like Sean that’s fine but don’t even start with that non sense.

I loved watching Sean play here. He’s been a college coach for many years, so obviously he’s had success and is well regarded by his peers.

But his pitching staff’s performance was crap. Pointing out that fact is nonsense? Why?

Because you are taking a season in the Big 10 as a pitching coach and using that to say he would not be a good head coach here.

That’s non-sense.

Did you mention that he was Asst. Coach of the Year a couple of years ago?
Did you mention all the ties to the state of Texas he has?

Numbers as a pitching coach up north have ZERO to do with him being a great head coach in Houston.

He knows just about every coach in the 17U and 18U game in Texas and would have incredible talent to work with……he has a great reputation amongst coaches here.

That in itself is a 1000 times more relevant than numbers put up in the Big 10 with lesser talent.

Players love him and he knows how to get the most out of them….i know this for a fact.

So yes, using a season of pitching stats at a school in the Big 10 is non sense.

Mmmkay. It seems like you have an emotional attachment.

My kid played for him, yes.

But someone made a post saying that he would ā€œexcite the fan baseā€.
That means they expect him to be a great head coach just as myself and several others.

Taking ONE season of pitching stats in a state/area he has been in two years and using that as your data to insinuate he would not be a good coach here is ridiculous.

I would say the same thing if someone said he was going to be a great coach because the Ohio St. pitching staff was good this year.

There are about a million other aspects that are more relevant as to whether or not he would be a good coach at UH.

I know you are a fan of UH baseball because I’ve seen you on various boards for 20 years….so I know you know baseball and how the college game works regarding recruiting and success….thats why I find it such a weird post from you.

First and foremost, he can recruit. That is the most important thing for Houston baseball right now!

He’s got a great rep with top programs all over the state, not just Houston.
He is authentic and coaches appreciate that from college coaches.

Well unfortunately first and foremost we are stuck with Whitting so we can forget about him for awhile

Thanks Debbie Downer.

Sean was dismissed at UT and now his OSU pitching staff has not performed. Now I don’t know all the circumstances and I’m not drawing any conclusions from those facts. But his resume is not flawless.

It looks like a moot point for now, but I am not against Sean. I hope he finds success at Ohio State and, if he gets an opportunity at UH down the line, I’ll be on board and rooting for him.

You say your not ā€œdrawing any conclusions ā€œ but yet you mention him being dismissed at UT and his resume is not flawless?

You are correct, you do not know what the circumstances were at UT. I know 100% it had nothing to do with performance.
But by all means don’t take my word for it just throw it out there as a mark against him.
Let’s see, National Coach of the Year for assistants then ā€œdismissed ā€œ the next year….
That seem normal to you?

It’s fine, coaches know what really happened….

And his resume is about as close to flawless as you will find with assistant coaches.

Why was he dismissed at UT? Similar to Woody Williams?

Maybe not since Woody was willing to join UH staff. I assume we couldn’t afford Sean, relative to tOSU.

They had injuries to some of their best pitchers and UT was still 20 something in the nation that year in pitching……and FIRST in the Big 12.

The team underperformed and there was heat on Pierce….after being the National Assistant of the year the year before Sean was going to be a candidate to take over if Pierce was sacked( and that is what a large faction of supporters wanted)……so Pierce threw Sean under the bus….the stats backed Sean so rumor was Pierce bad mouthed the sh-t out of him to keep
His job.

And I think Allen would come back to UH in a heartbeat even for less cash….if he rebuilds the program he’d get a nice raise anyway.
