TT QB Brendan Sorsby Gambling Issues

Friday, NBC Sports reported the NCAA denied Sorsby’s appeal for reinstatement of eligibility. This was expected. The Texas judge still has to rule in Sorsby’s civil case against the NCAA. The clock is ticking, if Sorsby decides to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft, June 22. The judge decides when to issue his ruling.

Why should he be able to play?
He broke one of the two biggest rules one is gambling and the other is PED’s.
There is no way he should be able to play ncaa football.
The nfl can welcome him.
You let this to happen even with a three/four weeks ban?
Guess how many will take the chance tovdo the same especially if they have “inside” information. This is basically insider trading.

100% :100: he should not be able to play college ball ever! He broke a cardinal rule and should pay for his sins

I think you’re confused. I just offered an opinion of what could happen, based on what I’ve read about the case and considering how the NCAA has a history of uneven application of its rules based on individual circumstances. I didn’t “let” anything happen or say what should happen.

I could see the judge issuing the injunction and the NCAA settling on a suspension since the case wouldn’t likely be tried before the season anyway. I’d say it’s probably 60/40 in favor of the judge upholding the punishment and denying the injunction.

The funniest thing I’ve read to date:

From ABC News: “The NCAA maintains that allowing a player who bet on their own games to continue competing compromises the integrity of college athletics.”

IMHO, this Sorsby should seek employment in an area of his major. I wish him luck with that. Due to the nature of his position (QB), he is radioactive for further activity in football.

Yes the ncaa is the fraud that they are.
A few years back they should have come out publicly with:
“The ncaa maintains that allowing the ncaa and uta to get in bed together to torpedo programs like UH and others enhances the integrity of college athletics”
Who in the f…k do they think they are.
The ncaa is the last one to give lessons to others.
At the same time Sorsby should never be allowed to play college football again. The nfl hires questionable recruits every year. I am all for second chance. He will fit right in.

I’m wondering if Sorsby had to show if he claimed his gambling winnings on his income tax? Hello IRS.

Gamblers can get into money troubles with the wrong people, and even if they weren’t in trouble, they could still be blackmailed or threatened into affecting their own games. Once one gets into dealing with shady characters, you never know what kind of influence and pressures the underworld can bring. It will always be questioned when he has a bad game.

OMG!!!

IS THIS TRUE???

INJUSTICE!!!

INJUSTICE!!!

Apparently it is.

ESPN is reporting it as well now.

I sure hope the NCAA takes this up on appeal and wins.

The NCAA would have to successfully appeal the injunction to keep him off the field.

After seeing how the NCAA lawyers approached the injunction hearing, I’m not surprised about this. The NCAA didn’t offer an expert to counter Sorsby’s expert who testified on “irreparable harm” stemming from the gambling addition recovery. Whether people think that argument holds water, the NCAA should definitely have done more to argue against it. Failing to do that will make an appeal difficult, because they didn’t really present any evidence.

And also, Sorsby’s lawyers never lose to the NCAA.

UGH!!!

Stop with all the NEGATIVE jurisprudence!!!

Think only: NCAA WINS…SORSBY LOSES!!!

PLEASE GOD!!!

Hopefully, zero, but I guess we’ll see.

Was this the UT or UH judge who handed down the ruling? Or was this another one

I’m honestly surprised this happened – I didn’t think he would ever set foot in the Jones.

That said, all the “holier than thou”, “travesty of the game” responses from Texas, Michigan, Ohio St., etc. fans is rich.

I guess blue blood players driving reckless and killing people, knocking out women at bars, or sexually assaulting people, and then still playing, wasn’t a “travesty of the game”.

What’s hilarious is that, on my browser, ESPN put up a giant ad for Draft Kings right above this headline.

Pretty sure it’s the UH judge.
